Welcome to 4WM!

On ActiveSync on the PC can you please (with no device connected) select FILE > DELETE MOBILE DEVICE.

Then select FILE> Mobile Device (keep deleting all the profiles until you have no more devices left!)

Before you connect the device to the PC, can you make sure that ActiveSync screen is showing a greyed out box, with "Not connected" in small bold letters, and aboce that (looking greyed out) it says "No partnerships".

Now re-connect the device the the PC. Let it do it's whirly-gig bit for a moment.
Eventually when the prompt for retrieving settings has finished, you'll see it asking you to set up.
Just keep hitting NEXT except untick NOTES - you can put them back later if you want - they just tend to cause me issues with first connection to Outlook (you can change all the rest later!)

Cross your fingers...

Now - if it comes back as the tick box in contacts again, can you see if it has returned any errors?
Try hitting SYNC button again, that usually lets it kick through the contacts.

Now - how are you doing with all that? (and I am so sorry to make you repeat it all again, but best to try covering all the basics from scratch sometimes, Windows [Mobile & PC] is very tempremental!)

Good luck and look forward to seeing how you get on.
Well I smiled for the first time today. A god to help me out

Right I did all you said and here is the result:

Did not get any error messages on the PC or device.

It copied no contacts, some appointments, some email, no tasks (but then i did not have any of these), no favourites but again I did not have any of these and I am not sure about files. Sorry I am new to this and not sure what files get synced?

Thanks Elly
