I agree- no advantage in 6.1 over 6.0, and little in stopping HSDPA (which is only active while data is actually being transferred) but 30-40% improvement in turning 3G off.

3G/HSDPA is only really relevant when exchanging large amounts of data; for email, Instant Messaging and light web surfing, GSM is perfectly adequate.
