Yes you can, but it's not the sort of thing inexperienced users would be able to do, and it also makes the software unavailable to those using a Mac as a desktop PC.
As Updates are available as CAB files, I'm sure the developer will look into getting the original file available in this format- possibly something like SBSH do, with both versions included in the download ZIP file?
