T-Mobile to release the Touch Dual as the MDA Touch Plus
Well, T-Mobile are planning to get their act together it seems. Paul from Modaco has found out that they are planning to release the Touch Dual as the MDA Touch Plus. I concur with his opinion that it will still be a couple of months until we see it due to Orange's exclusivity deal, buth in the meantime have a look at the manual to sate your appetite!

Re: T-Mobile to release the Touch Dual as the MDA Touch Plus
Ok...HSDPA...I'm not that familiar with all the terminology....but...in simple terms...how does this affect things? At the moment I have 120Mb from Vodafone to a TyTN II [ I don't know if this is HSDPA but I'm quite happy with it]; I can't yet get the Touch Plus on a Vodafone deal, but would the larger 1Gb deal via T-Mobile perform the same...?

Re: T-Mobile to release the Touch Dual as the MDA Touch Plus
HSDPA is a faster version of 3G. With your basic phone signal you should get GPRS which is equivalent to dial-up. 3G (UMTS) is next best in good signal areas where supported and is equivelent to 256kb Broadband. HSDPA is the best speedwise at the moment again only in areas that support and where your signal is very good. This will get you up to 2Mb broadband speeds theoretically. HSUPA is being tested as we speak, and will offer upto 16Mb broadband speeds I believe.
The Touch plus does not support anything above GPRS, so from a speed perspective you're better off with your Tytn II and it's 3G/HSDPA functionality. It would take a lot of effort to get to the 1GB limit on a GPRS machine. Not so difficult on a 3G machine.

Re: T-Mobile to release the Touch Dual as the MDA Touch Plus
Presumably the Touch Dual is Edge compatible? Orange currently support Edge on most of their 3G masts; not sure about T-Mobile.
(Wilco: Edge is a 'superset' of GPRS and is capable of up to 200kb download, though in real terms it tends not to go above about 120kb)

Re: T-Mobile to release the Touch Dual as the MDA Touch Plus
I've not seen Edge on TMobile or Voda. Only Orange.

Re: T-Mobile to release the Touch Dual as the MDA Touch Plus
I am seeing it more regularly now with O2.
However, I am also in a 3G O2 area so only when the 3G signal weakens do I see the Edge icon and sometimes even that drops to GPRS!

Re: T-Mobile to release the Touch Dual as the MDA Touch Plus
Edge is also on o2, which was part of the deal for the iPhone IIRC. The Touch Plus is HSDPA compatible Dave IIRC. That's the reason why WiFi was left out.
