Stylus Control for HTC Touch Diamond

One of the cool features of the HTC Touch Diamond is that if the device is turned off and the stylus withdrawn the machine will automatically turn on.

Kai (PPC developer) has now enhanced this and produced Stylus Control for HTC Touch Diamond, this allows:

With Stylus Control can you at inserting or pulling out the PDA-Pen execute certain actions, e.g. start a program, switch off the device etc. The program works with the HTC Touch Diamond and identical devices, as there is a Sensor for the Pen built in.

• Insert Pen: start program, switch off
• Pull out Pen: switch on, start program, display today screen
• Animation: A virtual Pen moves on the screen in and out
• Settings: activate Sensor, sound on action

At this time it works only on devices from HTC with integrated Pen Sensor*

You can start any desired program or choose a file (picture, sound etc.) and let it start. Very effective when you often use the same program e.g. phone or notes. At inserting the pen it could be very helpful when the device shuts down.

*Pen Sensor: This program works only on new devices from HTC and structural identical devices with integrated Pen Sensor, e.g. HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Touch Pro, O2 XDA Diamond, T-Mobile MDA Compact IV and future devices from HTC.

at less than £4 - it must be worth trying if you have a Diamond.
(could always request a refund if it doesn't work as expected, as there isn't a trial)

Maybe I'm being unimaginative, but can anyone suggest a function that you would realistically want to run EVERY time you either take the stylus out or put it away?

The only thing I can think of is maybe to turn WiFi off and on - but that is stretching it a bit.

Got it! I'm a bit mixed in my feelings about this little app. The idea is sound, but some things are really annoying...
The program works as it says (which is great). I use Pocket Informant a lot, and it's really quite useful to have PI open when the stylus is withdrawn. However, the annoying part is that each time the stylus is inserted or withdrawn, you're taken to the app screen where you get this little animation of the stylus being put in or taken out... why?!? This is the type of app that needs to run quietly in the background. Instead, this process happens:
-withdraw the stylus
-app page opens
-stylus animation
-assigned program opens

-insert stylus
-app page opens
-stylus animation
-app page stays open (though you can assign another program to open or the screen to turn off on putting the stylus away)

Conclusion: The app is useful but needs a little tweaking to take away the surplus screen activation & animation - without those it'd be great.
I'd also like to see the option to return to the today screen on stylis insertion.
