Mini Review iPod touch 16gb

Overview

Early in September, Apple announced the new iPod touch would be available by the end of the month. I had read a lot of good things about the touch and when I finally got my hands on one, I just had to have it….So here I am with a...

Yeah looking forward to seeing the Touch the iphone looks and feels very thin (it's half the thickness of my orbit) so doesn't appear to big but the Touch is definitely a size zero

One feature of the iPhone I loved was that when browsing albums in a list, turn the iPhone sideways and it shows you the Album art and allows you to flick through it!!

Yes coverflow is great on the iPhone very cool indeed. Ive also got the Classic and cover flow is not quite as smooth on that and is more of a gimmick, still useful but really comes into it's own with the screen on the Iphone and no doubt the Touch too.

Re: Mini Review iPod touch 16gb

I played with a Touch briefly on Sunday in an Apple store and can't say I was in any way impressed other than it's thickness. It's much too long in my opinion and my 80GB classic is more manageable in the hand.

Sorry, just not getting excited by it.

Having had the touch for some weeks now, I can definitely say that if your raison d'etre is to use this as an iPod for music then stick with the G5 or Classic iPod..

If you want to watch videos and view photos then the touch is ideal!

As a follow up to the review, I can say that once you get used to the interface, it's actually quite easy to use one handed flicking to the next music track when it's used in the car connected to the Ford audio socket...(disclaimer - I always have my hands on the wheel....)

I think this is one of those situations where familiarity reaps more rewards.

I only played for about 4-5 mins and, as I stated, it didn't impress. If I had one, maybe but there doesn't appear to be any reason for me to pay for one, donations will always be accepted of course!

Re: Mini Review iPod touch 16gb

Looks nice, however, what I do not like about the apple family is that they do not have FM or voice recording which IMHO are very important features that an MP3 player can't miss so I will stick with my Philips GoGear. The only thing that gets me paranoid about these kind of devices is that they have a hard drive and sometimes I am afraid of breaking them so I also have a flash mp3 player for everyday use and leave the other one for long trips, vacations, etc

Re: Mini Review iPod touch 16gb

I'm kind of stuck on this at the moment. I won't go for an iPod because you're locked into iTunes (hate it) and they lack a radio and replaceable battery so, even though the 16GB Touch does look fab, they're al out. I'm also looking for something with, preferably, about 30GB of storage. Having looked about there is nothing around at the moment. The Zen Vision M would be okay but it's damn near impossible to get hold of without paying way over the odds. Maybe everyone is just in the process of finalising new products for the Christmas market.

Oh, and it needs to be Vista compatible as well.
