Re: CoPilot Live! (7) Review

Oh, that is weird. I did a lot of my images for the review on foot so I know mine worked fine like that. Although my build was pre-release I can't believe they broke it in the release. What device/ROM combination are you using?

Re: CoPilot Live! (7) Review

Well I used both the Orbit and the Touch, and both internal and external GPS and it was fine. Have you tried it in the car yet?

Re: CoPilot Live! (7) Review

This is weird I've not seen that issue at all - maybe worth trying a remove and reinstall?

If it's no better tonight when I pop out to the chippy I will do a hard reset and reinstall.

Re: CoPilot Live! (7) Review

Right - a Hard reset has solved my issues, and brought up some new ones

A couple of minor cosmetic issues, and I'm comparing here to TomTom obviously:

It doesn't seem possible to see how many satelitles you are locked onto, only wether you have a 2d or 3d fix. Small I know, but useful.

Can't find a way of displaying a similar amount of information on the screen as you get in Tomtom. For example - ETA, Distance left, Arrival time, current time. You can get the Speed, time remaining and Distance remaining. Which brings me on to the most important part:

Routing Estimation: I live in Sidcup. At weekends I often drive into town (Liverpool street way). This takes (at best) 30 minutes. Copilot reckons I'll do it in 18..... Tomtom reckons 32, which is about right. I think the problem lies on the fact that I take the A20, A2, A102, A13. All A roads. I think that it believes I will be doing 45mph all the way. But the speed limit for most of the way in is either 40 or 30mph. Add in all the traffic lights etc and you're never going to do it in that time.

This all sounds very negative I know, but I do actually like the product. It obtains a lock much faster than TT, looks far far nicer, is much smoother than TT when it's scrolling. If I could work out how to get the ETA more accurate I think this would be superb.

Re: CoPilot Live! (7) Review

I have to admit I haven't seen those routing issues (although as you can read in the review I had some of my own) but I know what you mean about the display. I'd like it more configurable too. I made a note of it in the review but didn't think it was that major a point.

Re: CoPilot Live! (7) Review

From memory (between installs at the moment) you can tap on the info bar at the bottom of the main 3d display to vary what is shown information wise. Not as much data as with TTNV6, but as folks have pointed out before one should be driving not looking on screen.

Speeds on roads can be altered within the profile where one can vary the settings against each road type (again from memory).
