The issue with that is that different A roads have different speed limits. If you're on a 60mph road you'd set it to 60. You can still be on an A road in a 30 mph limit where obviously you can't do 60. This has to be down to mapping data I would think.

Re: CoPilot Live! (7) Review

That's exactly the problem. TT seems to be able to adjust for driving in town or in 30mph areas, Copilot doesn't. I have used it for about 1.5 hours today, and I generally like it, but it's not reliable for ETAs.

What I really like is the extra detail on the safety screen, with the named junctions and roundabouts.

I also like the general look and feel of it, although I get the impression that some bits were done in the way they are to differentiate it from TT, rather than doing it in the best possible way.

It does get a satelite lock on my Advantage much miuch quicker than TT. Now, if they can sort out the speed camera warnings when driving with no routes, then that will improve things no end.

Re: CoPilot Live! (7) Review

that's what has impressed me with TT compared to CPL6. the routing is much better to the extent it can save ten minutes journey time. but I use GPS mainly for traffic news and estimation on routes I already know. if the ETA isn't as good as TT, then that's a major negative for me. I'll probably still but it for use in the Touch, but the major plus points of TT for me (ie the ability to show weather alerts en route, accurate ETAs, the adding of traffic delays to the ETAs etch outweigh a pretty interface for me)

Copilot 7's routing is much much better, in fact it's almost identical to TT6 on all the routes I have tested so far. The ETA's are indeed quite a problem, and I may well go back to the TT nav for this reason.

POI Query

How do you get just particular POI to show. I have tried adding the Pocketgps safety camera POI, and if I enable POI then all of them seem to show rather than just the ones in custom that I want.

Text to speech hopefully will be available by the end of the year ALK say. If not early next year.

Also I can't get 'Live' working anymore with a bluetooth mobile phone. Again ALK say they are aware of that type of problem and are working on a fix.

On the whole I like version 7 however it does seem it was shipped before it was really ready.

So are you saying that routing has improved between CPL versions 6 & 7 or between CPL 7 and TT 6?

Re: CoPilot Live! (7) Review

To get multiple safety camera POIs integrating in CoPilot is a manual process (if you do not have the desktop component), but is quite easy.

The .ov2 file(s) MUST have the word "safetycam" in the file name somewhere. Then copy the file(s) into the correct folder on the SD card (\COPILOT\EU\SAVE\).

Once this has been done when CPL7 next loads it will process the cameras into the database.

Messy but easy. Works for me in getting the PocketGPS cameras in there as valid Warning Of course once it is doen you do have to go into the config and turn warnings on.

What I mean is that for the routes I have tried, there is no difference between Co pilot 7 and TT 6, which means a vast improvement on Cp6.

However, I don't think we're going to get over the ETA issue anytime soon.

Hmm, this sounds like one to buy once they sort out some of these issues next year. TT6 isn't pretty but it is a very capable functional GPS app IMHO!
