Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review

In the review, Windows Mobile Device Centre is sshowing the XDA device in the graphic. I've just done my first setup/sync and it just shows a generic PDA. Anyone else see this?

If they get the correct device showing, any chance of dropping me the file so I can copy it to my device?

Thanks....

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review

Tony it's not a copyable file its built into the ROM IIRC. The problem is that WMDC has not retrieved it correctly from the ROM. Try breaking the partnership and remaking it to see if that helps.

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review

Or try doing a 'Windows Update' with the Orbit2 connected- it sometimes works

By using a registry editor on the phone and editing the following value:

HKLM\Drivers\Touchpanel\Pressure Threshold

Change the default value to a higher one of your choice. I have mine set at 40866.

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review

Hi. Please excuse my ignorance, but do you have to pay any sort of subscription for the GPS feature? I've never had a GPS device before (I've currently got a XDA mini S), so I'm not aware how the system works.

Also, I'm used to the qwerty keyboard on my current XDA. While I'm considering moving to a pure touch screen device like this to get something smaller, I'm not clear from the review whether there's the option to use a full qwerty keyboard on-screen or just the 20-key option. Can someone advise?

Thanks,
Matt

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review

GPS itself is free, if you need to use QuickGPS to upate the emphemeris that will cost a little air time connectivity (unless you turn it off). Adn yes you stillhave ther normal traditional SIP (soft input devices) like the standard keyboard, etc.

Many thanks. Now just need to decide whether to get the Orbit 2 or the Stellar.
