On my Orbit(s) , I have I set QuickGPS to update via the Internet / ActiveSync using the QuickGPS options under "Menu > Options > Auto download when connected to PC via ActiveSync" and setting ActiveSync as "File > Connection Settings > This computer is connected to : The Internet".
So there are no airtime charges to worry about
The Orbit 1 downloads 3 days worth of QuickGPS data every time you connect it to the PC and the Orbit 2 downloads 7 days worth.

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review
I have to say that I haven't found the need to get the QuickGPS data, the GPS of my orbit 2 locks on quickly enough without it.

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review
And the update over active sync only setting is the default; mine had been doing that without me being aware of it, which is excellent.

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review
hi, nice review! is there a software tool/tweak to adjust screen position? im only asking as my o2 orbit's is off centre and slightly askew. guess ill have to send it back, no fun have to say this is my fifth choice on an upgrade! i didnt like the w910i (girls phone and hard to use keys!), viewty (naff, crashing os, very very unfinished!), w960i (bulky, symbian os crashed while on net when txt arrived, unfinished again imo), Xda stellar (V bulky, and totally forgot i dont like 2 piece phones, but v nice in other ways, though the case didnt match up when closed). i since found out i should only have had 3 choices, but no one told me, and every time i got a phone they said i had 14 days, now im hoping they dont refuse to replace this faulty one (the jog dial is off centre too and leaning! LOL).. feeling a bit jaded atm, but overall best phone out there atm imo (mmmmmmm xperia though !!) cheers

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review
Yes they will replace it no problem, that is an unusual problem though. I just hope the replacement is ok because it is a fantastic device.

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review
I assume it's not a simple matter of aligning the screen?
