Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review

I have also been testing this device for O2 and I am in awe of it in all honesty, it is the best device I have come across in a long while. To me it is a natural successor to my Trinity, which I have been using as my main device as I did not get on with the bulkiness of the Kaiser, and I can now easily survive without a hardware keyboard.

There isn't really anything you can fault with the Orbit 2, it is very well put together hardware and software wise. It has a light feel good factor in the hand which is important to me, and does everything you ask of it without problem and at speed.

Having the built in flush screen, Touchflo, Touch Cube, FM radio and the excellent Co-Pilot 7 for free makes this device a must have for me and an excellent all rounder.

I am a hard task master and would not give a 10/10 mark lightly in the ratings scores, but I have done as I could not fault it in the areas marked as such .

This was a very thorough review. Thanks for doing it. I wish I could get one of these devices for use here in The States. I know its Quad Band, so it should work...

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review

I have been testing the Orbit2 for nearly 3 weeks now, and having owned pretty much all the previous XDA Touchscreen models, can confidently say it's the best yet

Daron's review covers everything admirably, but my highlights are the flush screen, and TouchFlo interface, the increase in memory and the lightening fast GPS signal aquisition.

The device has been rock solid, and hasn't needed a forced soft reset since I've had it, maybe due to the extra memory.

Dislikes are small- I still don't like the scroll wheel in the 'Action' area, preferring my previous HTC Trinity's side mounted jog dial. And I don't like CoPilot Live 7 Obviously that's a personal opinion and others love it; having the main files in ROM takes up 8MB of useful space, but at least there is plenty spare.

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review

Waynester,

Stellar vs Orbit II? Depends on your needs...

Keyboard versus non-keyboard primarily. What use are you likely to make of the keyboard?

Also Stellar been out a while so will probably be cheaper from O2 than brand new Orbit II.

Let us know what sort of use you are likely to make of the device and we can advise accordingly!

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review

I'll second what Tony says there, I prefer keyboardless machines so the Orbit 2 suits me better. Advantages of the Stellar are the keyboard, the Orbit 2 though has a faster GPS and the full TouchFlo system.

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review

Hi there

i check a lot of my emails from my AOL Email account through imap while im on tour with my band, download attachments, take a few pictures, send texts and MMS, will definately install TOMTOM on it

this is my first try into this sort of Handset, i currently own a Nokia N95 8GB, a Nokia E90 Communicator and a Nokia N91 8GB, all given to me FREE from a friend at Nokia who sent me them because i had gotten through 8 x Nokia N95`s that were ALL faulty...
as a way of an Apology i was allowed to keep them all, Result! lol

so, have i made a good choice?
whats all this website about? and have i bought a load of trouble?

HTCClassAction.org - Because HTC dropped the ball, and it's about time they pick it up!

would you get the ORBIT II or STELLAR?

Re: O2 Xda Orbit 2 Review

If you do handle a large volume of emails then the Stellar is probably the better device for you. Not that the Orbit 2 can't handle the job it can, but you'd probably have to get an alternatie third party software keyboard that is more felxible with data entry.

The HTC Action - yes it is an issue but nothing that will get fixed for noe all it really means is that the devices are not as fast as hey can be for handling fast moving graphics.
