Re: O2 Xda Mini S Review
After a lot of thought and reading your excellent review I have just ordered one of these and it is due to arrive next week! As this is my first mobile Windows device I wondered what you would recommend with the first install.
If I choose personal, that will install a lot of things to slow it down? So is it really worth it? Should I just install the basic and try to get used to it. I am assuming from your review that if I installed personal and then changed to basic it would remove all the extra software?
Sorry if this is all a bit confusing, just trying to get my head round things and want the best experience possible!

I'd actually go for Basic or Corporate from the start. Although you can switch from Personal to Basic, it leaves a lot of un-needed files taking up valuable memory.
For everyday use, I found Basic on the Mini S to work well, and you get the advantage of O2's nice dialler skin and Smart Dialling. With Corporate, you would need to enter all the connection details manually, though this is not difficult.

That's what I thought, that it might leave some files, so I should be ok with basic then? That still comes with the internet settings etc?

Finally the ROM software is different. I've played with the TMob ROM, and performance wise both the TMob ROM and the O2 release ROMs are ok.

Was there a huge difference in Roms?

From Memory I think the ROM versions were pretty close.

Cheers mate, am now very close to choosing my device. T-Mob have already released a maintenance ROM this month with another coming in Mar this year (I think with the BB connect software but I may have misread that).
One of the issues that I am reading is that neither device works with Skype and that T-Mob have disabled 11g.
o2 have stated b/g compatibility on their website, but I don't think we ever got a straight answer on from the 4winmobile community on whether the Mini S works on g, did we?
This may come down to price, as I can't see o2 giving me 12months voice free with data36 and a free Mini S now.

The Mini S does not work on 11g with the current O2 Rom.

Re: O2 Xda Mini S Review
I can confirm that my O2 Mini S is NOT G enabled with O2 ROM, but IS G enabled with the Imate ROM.

Re: O2 Xda Mini S Review
Anyone know how/where to access the T-Mobile maintenance ROM referred to above?

Link is here, you will need your IMEI number and a few other details.
From the posts on XDA-Devs, it cures an issue with BT voice dialling
