O2 Xda Mini S Review

Well, been using my Wizard for a couple of days now and I have to say that I'm impressed. The size and weight are fantastic. I can carry it around in my jeans pocket without any embarrassing bulge like I used to get if I tried to carry my 2s. It just feels like a slightly large phone. In fact, it is almost identical in size to my old P900 which I loved. It's a tiny bit shorter and a bit wider but I suspect the volume is damned near identical.

I also love the soft keys. It was something I kept seeing in the reviews and dismissing as I've always used a stylus but it does make the phone side of things far easier. I can deal with SMS, incoming and outgoing calls easily without having to use the stylus (which is probably as well with the damn thing being on the bottom).

On the downside, the stylus is in an awkward place and is far too small for my, admittedly, giant hands (size 12 1/5 glove - approx XXXL). I'm also having problems setting it up under WM5, but that isn't the wizard's fault. Too many of the apps I use as standard either don't work at all under wm5 (installed PzP and it just crashed the device - 3 times). I also don't have a mini sd card yet (delays in Christmas post) and can't wait to get my cradles (two on order from Expensys).

I think once I have the mini SD so I can install some trial apps and figure out what replacements work for my today screen (my today on the 2s is PzP, Journal Bar and Pocket Breeze, none of which work properly under wm5) and get the thing in a cradle so I can get back to using it in the same way as I'm used to, everything will be hunky dorey.

But for now the size of it and the useability of the keyboard just about make up for the software problems.

My wife has been using my old P900 for well over a year now and loves it (despite "claiming" she doesn't like gadgets). I told her about the updated P990 being out in a couple of months and she wasn't interested. Said the P900 did everything she wanted so why would she want to replace it.

I came home on Wednesday with the Wizard, she took one look at it and immediately "I want one!".

It has wow factor in buckets!

I'm using PZP on my Wizard without issue Bassey and have been since day 1. Have you got the latest version etc?

I went to see the Wizard, de de de de dede...

I got my Wiz this morning, it's sitting here beside me charging. I honestly don't have the energy to sit here and configure it. But I loved the box! it came in and it's a great looking and feeling device. The keyboard looks lovely too and I'm looking forward to getting some time to play! Like Bassey, my Mini-SD card isn't here yet either, but when it does arrive I'll being the task of moving everything over to the Wiz, for the moment I just want to get Wi-Fi working and I'll be happy.

Talk later,
Howard

These keyboards are mostly for thumb typing as far as I can tell.* I like the Wiz keyboard, but I noticed there is no Shift key, what's up with that?

a semi-competent touch typist, so the problem is I don't know where the keys are to do one finger typing, I'm probably quicker with the letter recogniser.

Re: HTC Prophet Reviewed

Isn't the blue blob a ctrl key equivelent? I'm sure we saw some software just the other day that let you use it as Ctrl.

So you got it as scheduled H - good luck with playing nicely!

Might be an idea for the Mods (who need the practice) to cut the Wizard comments out of this thread and move them into the Wizzard review thread?

[and I have bets on who gets there first with the Mod'ing]

Sorry Daron, I started the topic drift with a comparison question. I'll try to think harder about when to start a new topic in future.
