Interesting that O2 say it should support it - be interesting after the break as I'll ask how it should be enabled.

O2 Xda Mini S Review
The box also has 802.11b printed on it, and I'll bet that this is what they'll commit too.* Never-the-less I've enjoyed playing with the Wiz today, battery is holding up well, lots of wi-fi throughout the day and messing around getting used to the keyboard.* Having fun with it... just as it should be.
*
Oh and Skype too!!* haha, it actually works well enough for me, I tested by using skype out to my brother in law's mobile phone.* No probs either end.

You think you made the right decision H? Getting the Wizard? Any comments from the review you'd disagree with?

O2 Xda Mini S Review
Hi Dave,
*
Missed ya yesterday!* Hope you had a great day.* I'm very happy with the Wizard so far, I played and got a lot out of it yesterday.* The flexibility of Wi-Fi is excellent although I did have to make some changes to the router and other clients (TKIP vs AES)* I'm ready to migrate over once the Mini-SD card arrives.* The keyboard is taking me some time to get to grips with, another key I found missing is the hat symbol - ^ I use this in some places and it's a pain in the goolies to pull the stylus for accessing the SIP to do it.* But it works and I'll make some changes so I don't need to use that character.
*
I'd disagree with nothing you've said.* It's a great device.* Performance is good but at the moment I've only Skype installed, downloaded and installed via wi-fi and tested using Slype Out successfully.

Re: O2 Xda Mini S Review
Had quite a long day yesterday. Round my folks by 8 (the nephews can only wait until 8!) and at up playing board games and alike until about 1am. Ate and drank far too much. Great day though. Hope you had a good one too buddy.
I think you should find migration pretty painless now, most apps are WM5.

O2 Xda Mini S Review
Thanks Dave,
*
We had a good time here too, lots of tv and taking it easy, and then down at the seafront so the little lad could have a go of his new bike.
*
Looking forward to full time Wiz, still need to work out something for carrying it though.* I'll be running through some tests of the device locking to see what happens when it rings and the power comes on.

TKIP is only prone to Man in the Middle attacks. Very unlikely for a home environment, as the risk is that you would connect to a so called 'Evil twin' wireless AP rather than your AP. Given the amount of work entailed, TKIP really is very secure for home use. AES is more for the more persistent enterprise Wireless connections.

Re: O2 Xda Mini S Review
I know this site is dominated by O2 users, but does anyone know if there's much to choose between the XDA Mini and the T-Mobile Vario?
Also - a real long-shot - does anyone know if these phones will work with the Bluetooth hands-free features on a TomTom Go 700?
Thanks

Re: O2 Xda Mini S Review
There is a slight physical difference between the front plates on the O2 and TMobile Wizards. In my opinion the O2 one looks better (Unlike the MDA Pro and O2 Exec where I like the TMob silver better!) but there's not much in it and you'd want to see for yourself. Another thing is that the O2 machine is SIM unlocked, whereas the TMob machine is locked. It's easy enough to Unlock, but still it's a difference. Finally the ROM software is different. I've played with the TMob ROM, and performance wise both the TMob ROM and the O2 release ROMs are ok. Certainly not very different. I think it pretty much comes down to the supplier/tariff/cost you prefer in this case.
I really couldn't say about the TomTom though. I don't know that much about it.
