Well for me it works, low cost and it means all my devices and mail clients are in sync. I've never used WiFi as much since I went with the system.

Plus mail seems to be delivered at regular intervals reliably and with more frequency when roadming with GPRS.

On and yes you can access from different PCs they just have to log in to your account - as simple as that!

So far it's proving a boon here!

Well, that alone might make it worthwhile for me- I use 3 PC's and a PPC so might stop a lot of juggling, and out-of-sync data!

Yep that was my problem with multiple PDAs - well worth giving it a go - 15 day trial!

www.4smartphone.net reviewed - Hosted Exchange mail server

Any idea if this handles multiple Outlook copies on different PC's
*
You need the Pro account to be able to use Outlook, I have my account set up at the moment on the following:
*
1. MDA Pro
2. C500 SmartPhone
3. Desktop Outlook
4. Home Laptop Outlook
5. Work Laptop done via Outlook Web Access
6. Wife's Laptop Outlook under my logon
*
It syncs the account with the hosted Exchange mailbox perfectly a change made on one machine is then sync'd to the hosted account and then sync'd back down to which ever machine I happen to be using at the time, it works flawlessly thus far for me. No more duped emails as I used to get on occasion when using POP3 or IMAP on various devices.* Same goes of course for Calendar, Contacts and Tasks, it also sync's the state of the email I.e. unread or read which is fantastic

Well, I've taken the plunge, and subscribed for 1 year, but at present, I'm having no joy.

I find the website infuriatingly slow, and the navigation often brings up an unexpected page, plus it seems very aggressive at logging out on inactivity- I was trying to switch back and forth between Outlook and the 4SP site, and if I wasn't quick, I'd be back at the login page again!

Have downloaded Outlook 2003, and my personal config file, but try as I might, it won't recognise my login, so won't go on to configure the Exchange server.

My login works fine with 4SP itself, and with OWA, so that woulld seem not to be the culprit. Everytime I try and login from Outlook 2003, I just get a "Name could not be found in the names list" error, and Outlook closes.

Configuring Outlook to use a pst file works OK, so the installation is all right.

I've emailed support- hope they're on the ball!

Another small niggle is that the PDA configuration screens are for WM2003, not WM5, so there is a bit of educated guesswork there, but as I've not got the Exchange server connected and synchronised, thats a moot point.

At least OWA shows that my email is being downloaded- if that's successful I may configure Spamarrest to forward mail, rather than being polled by 4SP.

Hope it gets better from here!

BTW- have disabled AV and Firewall- still no joy!

Interesting Neil,
I have trialled this twice and always got the ppc side working but never could get the pc end working. So when i read the review and the gold award i felt maybe it was just too technical for me.And tech support never ever replied so i kind of gave up.In a horrible sort of way im almost glad someone else is having problems as well

Very strange I had no problems with Outlook at all. It was already set up here with a PST, I removed AS mail sync. Rebooted the PC to ensure no part out Outlook was running and then ran the set-up file. Worked first time. Now when I boot the PC I just get a logion dialog up to log Outlook on to thier server and I'm away.

Of course you could always set it up manually via the Inbox applet in the Control Panel.

The PPC is dead easy I just entered the server details and I was away!

OK- well tech support replied almost immediately, and said thay could find no problems, but had rest my account anyway.

And next time I tried, Outlook 2003 did connect, and went through all the initial syncs.

Now, I can't get the Exec to sync automatically. I've set all the connection parameters, and can do a sync manually, by opening A/S on the Exec and tapping "Sync", but I keep getting a message saying scheduled syncs can't be activated as I've not entered a cellular connection number- any idea what I'm doing wrong, as I simply want to use WiFi or GPRS connections?

Re: www.4smartphone.net reviewed - Hosted Exchange mail serv

There is a place to enter this but for some reason it does not always appear.I think u may have to be connected via grprs the first time and then vtry to set up the account. This somehow or other then activates the option to enter your number and once that is done bobs your uncle.I think although i am no expert that that is one of the login /security features

HTH
