SPB Mobile Shell 1.0.0...

This is a really good concept, great in the car, but needs a little bit more forethought. I'm also thinking there's an issue with that latest version of CPL6 whereby CPL locksup.

However, it needs a bit more functionality with regards to cities for configuration within the weather app

Great review! I can imagine that future updates will give more functions.

It's almost, dare I say it, iPhone-like in it's display. A full screen launcher would make it very similar.

Great review of another fantastic app from SPB. If full integration with SPB (and hopefully 3rd-party) apps happens, then this is one of those "install-first" apps, like P+.

So, how are people finding the memory use. I'll admit that this morning on the Exec, with Spb Mobile Shell running along with WMP playing an audio book and doing some email via Messaging, WMP was closed as the Exec ran out of memory.....

Re: SPB Mobile Shell 1.0 (Review)

I've not had any problems with it at all. That said I run pretty lean these days. No soft resets for me today, and the Trinity is still going strong with 70% battery and 15MB free Program Memory. Happy days.

I think I may re-flash the Exec & start again. Clear out all the chaff that's been loaded on and off... Although, when I did a bit of investigating, running WMP and a large MP3 Audio book file does eat memory......

Maybe it's WMP. I use TCPMP, no memory issues at all.......

I do have that installed, but I usually use to to play Video, I'll give it a go with the audio files...

I don't think it's any one program that eats memory- it seems to be cumulative. SpB Time is the worst- needs 7MB to run under SpB Shell. Other programs seem to grab memory, which isn't always released when the program exits, even using S K Tools' Free Up RAM.

ActiveSync is another culprit: now I have just 15MB free with nothing running after closing A/S and messaging.

Starting Time and WMP push it back to 5MB free.

Seems to be the combination of Shell and other apps ratehr then inherent in the apps themselves.

Unless you use this feature, try disabling the "screen saver" option in SPB Time - made a big difference for me
