I believe Automatic Traffic Avoidance usually requries a data connection. The device has to connect to the Internet and download a file which contains a list of current traffic problems, road works etc to feed into the routing software.

In the case of the N560, as it is not a Phone Edition device but just a plain PPC (albeit with GPS built-in) I would assume it would have to maintain a bluetooth connection to a Mobile Phone and use this as an external modem to dial up periodically and get the file.

Though this functionality would, presumably, need to be supported by whatever GPS traffic routing software you were using, whether that be TomTom, Navicore or whatever.

So, does anyone know if any of the big Nav. apps are capable of downloading traffic files over an external internet connection? If they do, then all you need is a bluetooth enabled mobile phone and a data contract with your service provider. From what I understand, the files are tiny so GPRS or 3G bills shouldn't be too prohibitive.
