Hi js- glad you've got it working again!

1) I'm not sure! But 4SP have a good customer services setup, so an email to them should give the answers.

2) The *.ost file is not techically a backup file- it is your 'live data' as of the time of last sync, for offline use. I don't think you can restore from the ost file.

3) As from above- many people use 'offline' mode on laptops etc, where they are not always connected to the internet. Using a 'non-cached ' mode would mean you would have no access to data when you weren't connected, or if the connection was down for some reason. As you say, if you are always connected to the internet (or your intranet if your own server) then you wouldn't need cached mode.
