Re: M900 owners: Acer needs your help troubleshooting problems!!

Very strange. Are you using L-Sensor or Gravity features. I don't use them as I feel they interfere to some degree with the responsiveness to the device. Since owning my device I never got the BSOD once. I had it go white once, but that was because I was multi tasking and I found the QuickLink feature a bit buggy. I would return it for a new one if you could. Just tell them all the problems you had with this device.
Since I use the SPB MS3 as my UI and use only about 9 programs from the original ROM, I have a fast unit, with over 117 of storage and 40MB in programs. Very happy with the device over all.

Re: M900 owners: Acer needs your help troubleshooting problems!!

Hi Boz,

My issue is with the battery. I'm using stock ROM, and the problem is that issue with M900 battery life.

The battery gets drain really fast. Imagine the battery can fall from 100% to 98% in seconds after a full charge.

I don't use Bluetooth, GPRS or GPS. I only have SPB Phone Suite and SPB Pocket Plus. Brightness is set at 15% and not gravity sensor or auto poll for brightness.

The worst draining happens after a few calls where i lose about 20-30% of batt life. I have done the full charge and discharge for 3 times and still the problem presists.

Do advise

Techx.

That's very odd. I have owned about six PDAs and that never happen to me. Althought other have mentioned it. I think it is either a faulty battery or a faulty charging system. To me is seems more like the battery......especially since you are not running many programs at once. Have you selected in your battery settings.....to turn off the device for xx minutes? If you haven't maybe your device is running on all the time, but dimly.

Re: M900 owners: Acer needs your help troubleshooting problems!!

Well I have used XDA Universal, HP636, O2 XDA2i, OS Zinc and TyTN2 (which was crappy too) and this is the first unit that behaves like this.

Well my unit is set to off in 1 minute in battery mode so no way it's running in dim mode.

Well I have done some registery hack that i got from the net, let see if this helps. But i think it's the GSM radio that causing this issue. Hope I get a replacement battery without much issue.

Let see if the update comes out soon.

S.O.D. Issues.

Have you had any experience that the M900 going into a sleep mode and then won't recover ? (S.O.D. - Standby of Death)

I can see the green and blue lights flashing, but it won't turn on. The only option is to do a soft reset.

Any solutions?

I've had worse than that. Mine has BSOD'ed and wouldn't even respond to a soft reset. I had to take the battery out before it would work again. Only happened once and now I've flashed the lite ROM I'll keep an eye out if it happens again. I've never even started the Acer Shell once since I've had it, so I know they're nothing to do with that.

I've got a problem Acer need to troubleshoot and its a BIG ONE!

Boz, can you ask your contacts where I can get a new headset please? The acer support/warranty center here don't do them and didn't even know how they would deal with a broken headset themselves! None on ebay, none on google.......

I really need the official headset...... please, please, please.....

Re: M900 owners: Acer needs your help troubleshooting problems!!

The battery life issue is definitely due to the crappy OEM battery. I already knew that it would be bad and didn't use it. I bought some cheap extra batteries on ebay for one of my previous phones, the MWG Zinc II. That phone is essentially an ETEN M810, the predecessor to the M900. Its OEM battery had the same issue. I lucked out because I already had purchased these with one being fully charged because I used it in the Zinc.

The aftermarket battery leaves me with about 57% battery life at the days end with push email updates every 2 hours and auto weather updates every hour and about 45 minutes of talktime on HSDPA. Bluetooth is used for all talk time and connected about 3 hours a day, otherwise bluetooth is off. Skyfire for about 5-10 minutes a day.

I have not had any freeze or standby issues on the Acer, but did all the time on the Zinc II. I'm currently running SPB3. Stock ROM. I'm using a transcend Class6 4 GB microsdhc card and no ******* software. In my experience with the two phones it was a matter of what software I put on my phone that caused the freeze issues. The Zinc was only about $250.00 US so if I bricked it with ******* software that was fine, but I won't put that stuff on a $700 phone and it runs smoothly probably as a consequence.

Re: M900 owners: Acer needs your help troubleshooting problems!!

I had the same problem, i realised the bottom buttoms and screen sometimes is working despite the fact you got activated the backlight, finnally i installed S2U Slide to unlock, like the iphone, its free and then is bloking screen and buttons when i want to, then the batery live gets much better.

Regards
David
