Re: M900 owners: Acer needs your help troubleshooting problems!!

Boz,

Could you ask your contact at Acer if they've abandoned these phones to concentrate on their next release of sub-par unstable phones? There have been no legitimate improvements of the ROM since these phones' premature release.

Hi, I am sure a new OS for the M900 will be forthcoming, updates are the norm once a device has been released for a while.

Yes, but it has been released for a while. Furthermore, this is Acer's first sad foray into WM phones, so I can't really just assume they will be releasing fixes as other companies would.

Re: M900 owners: Acer needs your help troubleshooting problems!!

I've got a problem and hope it isn't me being stupid.
No program I install to the memory card works. Files will not appear in the card. I've had to install everything to the device.
I've had other windows mobile devices before and when I choose to install to the memory card has always been fine.
Also for the life of me i cant delete temp files from internet explorer. The memory option tab not there like normal.

Re: M900 owners: Acer needs your help troubleshooting problems!!

Sorry for your trouble but, i'm (happy?) to say that I don't suffer from this problem. You might want to try a hard reset.

Mods: Should we not lock this subject? Its gone distinctly off-topic and if people started new threads we would probably have lots of usefull "on-topic" threads. Not to mention people asking questions would probably have far more answers and attention to there correctly titled, new threads.

No

3. Have you had poor GSM reception at all?
Not noticed but then not my primary phone

4. Low sound level - Is the sound level low with the speaker or receiver or both, and under what enviroment or circumstances do you see the problem?
GPS voice is OK - have only used BT headset for phone.

5. The blank screen of death issue - describe how it happened, and is there any particular circumstance under which this issue can be seen.
Haven't had this.

6. Connection settings lost after a reset - Try the following and the settings should stick, let me know the result please:

A. open connections from start--> setting--> connection--> connections

B. Click add new modem connection, select cellular Line (GPRS), press next

C. Put any word in access point name icon

D. Leave user name and password empty the click next to complete setting

E. Select the GPRS setting you just set up , then softreset

F. After system boot up then go to start--> setting--> connection--> connections again, the setting should still exist.

7. Choppy video quality is a known issue, however, if possible please let me know which benchmark phone you compare with.
Haven't played video on it

8. Have you the M900 user considered returning the phone to the supplier because of video quality?
No

9. I have found video call quality to be fine, have other M900 owners tried it between different makes of handsets, if so how did you get on?
Not tried

10?
After disconnecting from PC and enabling Wi-Fi then Wi-Fi toggle option dissappears from Comm Manager. Anyone else seen this behaviour?
Comm Manager toggle for data connection had me confused as with HTC devices data it is enabled when needed and doesn't need to be turned on first and then can be turned off via HTC comm Manager to conserve battery.
Any chance of similar behaviour?

lite rom

5. The blank screen of death issue - describe how it happened, and is there any particular circumstance under which this issue can be seen.
Ran CamerAware Buddy, ran Navizon, turn off screen, screen and/or backlight doesn't turn back on again. NEVER happened on Touch Pro/Kaiser over years of using this software combination.

6. Connection settings lost after a reset - Try the following and the settings should stick, let me know the result please:
This is fixed by removing GPRSWizard from startup.

7. Choppy video quality is a known issue, however, if possible please let me know which benchmark phone you compare with.
Video is better than Touch Pro, and 2nd to Omnia.

8. Have you the M900 user considered returning the phone to the supplier because of video quality?
No

Re: M900 owners: Acer needs your help troubleshooting problems!!

Update:
My M900 locked up running GPS and when restarted there was no phone - think it overheated as it felt hot. Now been replaced.

Re: M900 owners: Acer needs your help troubleshooting problems!!

Well, I think we can certify this thread as dead and pointless. Doesn't look like Boz is talking to Acer, and doesn't look like Acer is bothering to read it, nor fix things, anyways.
