Re: Acer F900 WiFi disconnects
Freddy,
Glad to hear your Resco reg editor is working OK. 2008 is the latest version. Oddly, 2005 worked fine on my Treo 800w which was WM 6.1, like the F900. It was time I upgraded, anyway.
I, too, reset after my major installs (Pocket Informant, Resco, Spb Pocket Plus) even if there are no instructions to do so; and after several lesser installs. I also take backups at those points. I've been burned too many times trying to recover from distant recovery points.

Re: Acer F900 WiFi disconnects
Hi
To solve my problem of reloading all the applications I installed Sprite Backup which works fine, the backup that comes with F900 only save PIM and not all data.

Re: Acer F900 WiFi disconnects
Things still are not 100 percent kosher with wifi with me. Last night, wifi tested good right before I did a backup (number 6) with Spb Backup 2. Immediately after the backup I tested wifi and it would not connect. (I'm testing wifi after every action I take that affects something other than data). I then:
Restored backup 6 - wifi was bad
soft reset - wifi bad
restored backup 5 - wifi OK
restored backup 6 - wifi bad
hard reset - wifi good
restored backup 6 - wifi good!! and has been good ever since, even after new backup (7) was made.
I encountered this behavior two days ago when I was debugging the wifi problem. If I did a restore, sometimes wifi would be bad, but after a hard reset and restoring the same backup, wifi would work.
This could point to an Spb Backup 2 problem, but since the restore works after a hard reset, I'm not sure where the problem is. At least I've been able to recover after a hard reset. Time consuming, but I don't need to restore often, so I can live with it.

Re: Acer F900 WiFi disconnects
sahil,
Thanks for the suggestion, but my backups are done to the storage card in the F900 and the restores are done from that card, too. My Vista laptop is not involved in the process at all.

I understand that the problems appear after a restored backup.
You can verify that "the Registry" restored by the backup, is the same as copying ?. You can view this, for example, by the "CeRegEdit" program.
This program lets you access and view "the Registry" of your Windows Mobile system, from your PC.
1.- WIFI OK: You can save the registry (in your PC CeRegEdit)
Menu: FILE - SAVE.
2.- Make a Backup, Restore in your F900
3.- , and Verify , Menu: COMPARE- COMPARE REGISTRY. ( In your PC CERegEdit)
------
And verify these values registry part:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\ Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\Default --> VALUE?
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\ Resuming\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\Default --> VALUE?
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\ Unattended\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\Default --> VALUE?
Best Regards.

Re: Acer F900 WiFi disconnects
Well regarding your Wifi problem i think that you should see whether your USB cable is working correctly or not since i think that your USB is creating this problem..

Re: Acer F900 WiFi disconnects
jjae6 - Thanks for the idea and the registry keys to check. I'll check into comparing the registry before the backup and again after the restore. I'm even having the problem after taking a backup and before restoring.
kakrothusain - My cable is not connected while I'm having the problems.
By the way, when I say I'm having trouble connecting with wifi, it's really a problem getting wifi to launch. When I press the On button in Comm Manager, I get a brief flash of the color wheel and then nothing. The On button remains white, the Off button blue. It's not like the wifi tower in the task bar is animated and actively trying to make a connection - there is no wifi icon in the task bar.

Re: Acer F900 WiFi disconnects
pj, Just for a reference, when you check your reg keys, will you post what is correct (or at least what you have when it's working). I have seemed to sort it out, and will try to do the same to compare, but that way we may be able to actually find the root of this problem. I'm living in fear of that gorilla rearing its head again. And I'm to tired and busy to keep having to reload everything again.
