Re: Acer F900 WiFi disconnects

I will be most happy to share what I find, Freddy, but my investigations will need to wait until the weekend. My daughter is hosting a bbq today, Friday, in honor of my birthday (yesterday) so I will be unable to play with my toy. I don't understand the priorities of some people - celebrating birthdays over free time to play with smartphones and browse forums!

kakrothusain - My cable is not connected while I'm having the problems.

By the way, when I say I'm having trouble connecting with wifi, it's really a problem getting wifi to launch. When I press the On button in Comm Manager, I get a brief flash of the color wheel and then nothing. The On button remains white, the Off button blue. It's not like the wifi tower in the task bar is animated and actively trying to make a connection - there is no wifi icon in the task bar.
calsam - This is exactly what is happening, WiFi won't launch and sometimes WiFi doesn't even show up in the list with the other components (Bluetooth, Phone, Flight mode).

Re: Acer F900 WiFi disconnects

pj, enjoy the birthday party. I put the phone down for most of the weekend too. As I said, I'm not having a problem right now, but if you tell me what registry keys to check, It may help you all out.

Re: Acer F900 WiFi disconnects

Well, after several hours of testing this weekend, I've not been able to cause a wifi connect problem. I've installed a bunch of software, changed the registry, did several backups and restores, but the wifi has consistently launched and connected. I've checked the registry entries jjae6 suggested and they never varied. The only value that changed in the State key was the dword value for {98C5250D-C29A-4985AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\BCMSDDHD1 which toggled between 0 (wifi off) and 1 (wifi on). The values for the three keys jjae6 mentioned were:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\ Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\Default --> VALUE=3

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\ Resuming\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\Default --> VALUE=2

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\ Unattended\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\Default --> VALUE=0

At this point, I'm declaring the problem gone (wishful thinking perhaps) and will no longer pursue the root cause unless someone suggests a viable investigatory approach, or if a problem recurs. The best guess I have is that using a registry editor and/or a backup program designed for WM 5 was/were the main cause(s) of the problem. When I replaced them with versions designed for current WM versions, the problem only briefly reappeared and now has disappeared.

For those experiencing a wifi connection preoblem, I'm sorry I couldn't find a definitive solution.

Thanks to all for your help.

calsam - I've never encountered the situation you describe of the wifi connection buttons being absent from the Comm Manager screen. That's a really odd problem.

Re: Acer F900 WiFi disconnects

upgrade to 1.09, fixed my problem. I think the Acer site has only 1.08, I don't know if that one will also work.
