I agree with you on the HTC - the last two devices have been HTC devices - and as far as they went they were good - but the interface wasn't throughout the device - just a limited but very nice looking bolt on. It didn't take long to find yourself back to the basic WM interface.
I had a SE Xperia X1 briefly - but that was like going back in time - the panels were a gimmick and the lack of any bolt ons throughout was truly H O R R I B L E - sold it! It reminded me how I had become dependent on third party bolt ons to make WM a truly useable device. And therein lies the rub - WM need to do SO much to improve the user interface and the user experience - functionality alone is no longer the be all and end all.

Sorry, I was talking about the marketing rather than the interface!

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Yeah, see I much preferred the touch Pro to the Xperia. Horses for courses I guess as we've said before in this thread, several times......

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Your comments on the X1 Griph made me smile too!
For me it's pretty much my perfect device! Small, light, excellent screen, great functionality (AND FITS MY NEEDS!)
...and that's the point everyone is coming back too - THEIR NEEDS.
Symbian, WM, Android and Apple will all still thrive as they all have solutions that cover all the myriad of differing user requirements.
I've never been asked to sign for anything by a courier that hasn't been either Palm (historically) or in the last few years WM - Apple just aren't in the corporate device space....

Tony - glad that I have that affect on some!
I don't disagree with anything you say about your personal needs because yes that is the whole point! I am not arguing that I have gone to the iPhone because it has more features - just that as a user experience it is easier for me to get the most out of it - it truly is for my needs a great (but not perfect) device. Of my devices I have had at least 10 windows mobile, 4 Psion, 1 Palm and 2 Symbian. I purposely didn't go for iPhone 1.0 because it's functionality was for me too limited. However with v2.0 the most important reservations I had had been addressed. I have had the iPhone since November - and whilst I recognize thy even I can be drawn to a fad - I am still using it as my primary device. Do I miss WM - I can honestly say I don't. I had an iPod for my +10 gig of music and a WM device - now I have 1. It really does fit my NEEDS. And I am excited to know that I will get a free upgrade to iPhone 3.0 ROM - and that for me is another major consideration. How often did I get ROM upgrades from WM (excluding XDA Developers)?
For me I feel that I am on the right track - and appreciate for others it is not - beauty is in the eye of the beholder - the only thing I bite at is when I get rolled up in with "Apple Fanboy" or other similar terms - because I HAVE been on both sides of the fence. I am just not sitting on it!

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
So are you sticking with the same hardware or will you pay a premium to upgrade that as well?

Sticking with the same hardware - otherwise what is the point of having an upgradeable device? If this had been a real option on WM I wouldn't have had to buy so many of them!

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Seriously? If you could have upgraded OS would you still have an XDA2?
