Why I despise the iPhone.

Are you using push mail Dave? I've never known any WM pro device last much more than a day with standard usage and most high end WM standard devices seem the same.

I'm using push and get about 3-4 days out of the X1. I could get 5 from the Touch Cruise. Don't make many calls but loads of internet and PDA use plus MP3 player and GPS.

Yep. I think the last device I didn't get 2 days from was the early Kaiser Roms. Since 6.1 all my WM devices have gone 2 days.

That must be without 3g wifi or Bt

2 days is the max I've ever had out of any device

my iPhones battery is a shocker now though needing constant topping up throughout the day. Was very good when I first got it but now quite unrrliable.

I do do a lot with the devices a day. 4 email accounts with half hourly updating, couple if hours Bt audio and couple of hours surfing sometimes plus calls and texts as needed

Yeah, no 3G. Can't be bothered as it seems to make little difference over EDGE and, as you suggest, has a massive impact on the battery. Bluetooth is always on though. I didn't used to, as it killed the battery, but the latest devices seem to be very efficient. I use my bluetooth headphones a lot and leave bluetooth always on and it seems to make little difference to the battery.

No, that is with BT always on, and 3G on as well. I am in a very good 3G area though outside and no 3G inside. I must admit I don't use much Wifi though.

Glad I got that off my chest. Actually there's more and this goes deeper....<rant part 2>.....one of the things that I find strange and another reason I despise the idea of the iPhone is that here at 4WM, I always felt we were all kindred spirits. The iPhone says we aren't. Back in the day we all had our XDA2's that needed a soft reset every 30 minutes but we knew, through all it's foibles we had the best tech. It did it all. We said no way Nokia, and up yours Sony Ericcson because it was all about the functionality. We hacked, reflashed, spent nights scouring the interweb for cabs and reg files, but we loved it, it was like taming a wild beast but once your device hit that sweet spot there was nothing to touch it. So what's changed? WM is still the only platform that does it all, and it's prettier and easier to use now than it ever was before. So why do you guys even tolerate the lack of bluetooth stereo or GPS navigation software or a hardware keyboard. What happened to you all? I feel like I'm a dying breed, soon to be extinct. It's getting lonely in here, will the last one out turn the lights off.......? </rant over....for now>

fantastic thread i must say...it makes me register just because of this thread...i simply love this awesome title: Why I despise the iPhone.

i really hate when my colleague who told me that iphone is a killer for pda....haha this ppl must really wake up from the dream of fantasy...

IPhone is just a multimedia phone...

well it can do wonderful things like farting just by shaking the phone...
playying sword games king king kiang kiang haha...like the olden chinese movie....

what a pda can do in a office

link up to wifi with encryption of wpa2
use company proxy to go on internet
use office communicator in a office enviroment
doing encryption email
using cisco ip phone
browsing for network files and attach to email
change location of pst files synchrozation


in terms of function comparision IPhone is never or at any times near to WM device

interms of Mutltimedia usage and games they are indeed better than WM...but look at what sony PSP comments on them...theirs games are nowwhere near to PSP

each has his pros and conss...i suppose........ i sharing the same view/fustration as the thread starter.....

Ah well, when Microsoft continue to think along the same lines you'll all be able to be surprised together that iPhone has stolen the business phone market from under them.

If you do a nice bullet point comparison of features yes WM will come out in front but then check how many of those features 99% of business users actually want, they'll all be on the iPhone list since OS3.0. Then compare the user experience and the Apple device blows the opposition out of the water. So all you're left with is that you can get different form factor phones.
