Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
The problem with the engadget article is that it is written by someone who frankly isn't a typical user! You can take almost anythinng and find someone who cant get on with it because it cant do a, b or c. As TonyBro says - "the solution for all is simple - use what you find works best for you." I am sure that WM is the be all and end all for some, the iPhone is for others. I just find that the Apple iPhone is for me what WM used to be.

And I think that is the key point, it's horses for courses... At the end of the day, it's all gadgets, and that's a good thing!

I agree.
I have today downloaded the update for Quick Offfice that now gives me the ability to edit received word and excel documents in addition to creating new word and excel documents on the iPhone. It provides formatting like Pocket Word - another reason not to miss WM - since the release of iPhone 3.0 the objections are being whittled away - wonder where we will be when iPhone has been around for as long as WM has now? Will Apple just squander their lead by doing as MS has and just sit on their laurels? Will there even be a windows mobile by then?

That isn't impossible - but I have to say that I find the screen keyboard excellent and I am MUCH faster typing on it than I ever was on any of the WM machines I have had with a hardware keyboard (Touch Pro, Touch Dual (16 & 20 key), Qtek 9100, Tytn I and II) - so I have plenty of personal experience.

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Yep, me too, but it just takes the intensive time needed to get used to it. Jim you do not use it enough mate for it to adjust and train.

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Now that Apple have opened up new API's for peripherals I wouldn't be shocked to see a plug in keypad similar to the ones that MS & Sony have brought out to attach to their video games consoles controllers

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Cant say that the learning period was intensive at all Daron. Hold the iPhone in the palm of both hands and use both thumbs to type. Get used to using the slightest brush of a key to get a response and after a few days - Bam! Absolutely brilliant and so far the best form of input short of using a BT external keyboard or SOTI on a WM device. I have had a few goes back on the Touch Pro and it feels that I have some sort of disability - everything is SO clunky after getting used to the iPhone!

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
I just think it's me, I just have never liked the on-screen keyboards, even if I spend a lot of time with them, which I'll grant you I don't. Personally I just don't think the on-screen keyboards are up to doing large volumes of email... Well, not for me anyway, I find the hardware keyboards to be much better!

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Strange but the only hardware keyboards I've every liked were the one on the Psion 5Mx and on the Universal.
