Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
I loved the Hardware keyboard on the Touch Pro. I was SO fast on that. The X1 and Touch Pro 2 keyboards seem a bit squishy in comparison.

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
I was lightning fast on the MiniS. I'm okay on the X1 - especially with having dedicated keys for . , ? and @ - but I do make the odd mistake towards the edges. Still, a million times quicker than any soft keyboard I've used. I'm 6'4", 16st with size 12 hands (think Martin Johnson). Software keyboards just don't cut it.

Hah! Im 6'1" and 17st 6lbs (down from 20st 12lbs) - and I get on fine with the Apple software keyboard - there are software keyboards and then there are iPhone software keyboards - if you have never given one a proper try - then you have no basis for comparison. I have and I have - if you see what I mean!

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
It's horses for courses. The Touch Diamond keyboard is 3/4 the size of the iPhone one and I find it much better. The iPhone keyboard spends too much time predicting what it thinks it you think you want to hit as opposed to what you actually connect with. That makes it innacurate for me. It's the whole capacitive screen thing.

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
I have. Admittedly, only someone else's (my brothers) so it wasn't a long term thing but I found it horribly frustrating. I just wanted to pull out the stylus.
Still, if you've got to spend two days with the thing before you can decide whether it's of any use to you - and it costs the best part of £1000 - that's a hell of a risk!

The best part of £1,000 ???!!! - you sound like a Microsoft Advert: http://www.macdailynews.com/index.ph...ook_pro_price/
I purchased my iPhone Pay As you Go - and it cost me £528 - about the same as it cost me to buy the Touch Pro! It took me no longer to acclimatise to the iPhone keyboard than it did to get used to using my first Pocket PC, so I dont see the point at all - and I am speaking with the benefit of knowing both devices with extensive use!

You can disable the auto-correction element very simply!

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
It's not the auto correction I'm on about, it's the initial contact thing.

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
I think this comes back to WaveyDavey's original post way-back-when. I don't have a problem with the iPhone per se. I think it's a remarkable piece of technology and bits of it are implemented superbly. There are a lot of people who are very happy with it which is great.
But the insistence of a large group of people that, if you dare to blaspheme by suggesting the device doesn't suit your needs or is not perfect, then this is merely proof there is something wrong with you/your life and not the device really does rub me up the wrong way.
I don't like the SIP on the iPhone. Get over it for fecks sake.

that sent me nuts at first but i have got the hang of it now.
what does send me nuts is i am constantly ringing my voicemail (not sip related but input still the same) and hitting shift with my palms when trying to tap higher up the screen.
i seem to type fir instead of for quite frequently to.
other than that it's the best sip i've used
