How do you hold the iPhone - I hold it nestled in my fingers of both hands when typing and use both thumbs to type with - just as I used to with the Psion's I had - it is fast and accurate - I dont have the voice mail problem and my palms are never anywhere near the keyboard to hit shift with. I do have occasional wrong letters - but its quick to resolve and the auto correction is (in my experience) very good.

Actually I tried one for a week and I thought it was weak. Found the keyboard hit and miss and I hate having to use two hands. Twice the work for half the accuracy. I also didn't see the point of compromising functionality and usability just for a child friendly front end, but I think we've been down that road already.

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
I like the iPhone, it's great, it's just not for me in daily use, which is mainly email, no matter what I do, I can't get on with the keyboard on it, and I tried for quite a while, it's just not comfortable for me...
And that is just me, everyone else can like the iPhone if they want!! I have no issue with that, I have no issue with anything that's a gadget!!

But the insistence of a large group of people that, if you dare to blaspheme by suggesting the device doesn't suit your needs or is not perfect, then this is merely proof there is something wrong with you/your life and not the device really does rub me up the wrong way.
I don't like the SIP on the iPhone. Get over it for fecks sake.

I think that if I posted a "Why I despise WM" topic then there would be people just as vehemently telling me why I was wrong, same goes for Symbian, BB, Android et al.
Incidentally I have come across another instance of the WM model screwing things up. I was talking to our telephony provider who is about to trial FMC with us and he mentioned that whilst they have working clients for Symbian, WM & iPhone OS there is a known fault on WM6.1 Basically meaning that there is no way to make an FMC call without it activating the speakerphone rendering it useless for mobile calls. MS obviously don't want to bother fixing the issue and so as there is no upgrade path for legacy device. pah I say

I'm sure to a certain extent that's true, but we've had the same conversation with PS3 and Xbox, and just agreed to disagree (eventually ). Horses for courses. I'm cool with that. I'm under no illusions that I wear WM tinted specs but that isn't going to change until the iPhone can offer me something WM can't. Realistically, this can not happen until the hardware change as other than anything else it's just too big for me. Anything else, keyboards, app stores etc is irrelevent before that. I'm sure you guys love it and all that but it just isn't for me. So we'll just have to agree to disagree again.

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Well, I've just read through the entire thread as I am getting a 3GS today because of the security of the device and the fact that it allows the access to subfolders on Exchange 2003 that WM doesn't.
I feel that the platform has now matured to the extent that it's useful for me, and most of the software now appears to be developed for it.
I agree that the amount of controls that you can apply to the device to magane end-user behaviour aren't as strong as WM, but that doesn't equate to iPhone being less secure. It gets more frequent updates, and Apple have an incentive to improve the enterprise aspects of it.
Would I recommend it to be adopted within business? No, but only because I don't see the need for a device with more than 4Gb of space for a normal business user. If a 4Gb 3GS came out and the O/S allowed me to state that you can only access this email account and download certain types of files then I'd allow it, but only because of the TPM on the device now.
WM is trying too hard to be iPhone, when it needs to be useable to the masses and realise that different form factors (Where is the Touch Plus upgrade?) are the true differentiating factor.

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
I'm sure I could always access folders on Exchange 2003, via push email?

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Des,
You have access to all subfolders under Inbox on WM!
Select Menu/Tools/Manage Folders and select all the ones to sync - simple....
