That's true, and IMHO the Touch interfaces supplied by HTC are very good. It's a shame that they can be a bit buggy when accessing underliying functions such as SMS/MMS etc.
Using the iPhone for a couple of days now, the main bug bears with the iPhone UI is that there is NO way to simply switch WiFi/Bluetooth off, the device will unlock when you enter the correct 4-Digit passcode (Which you can't have one more than that either) and you can't switch discovery mode off in bluetooth. I do feel that WM is better, but iPhone is more useful simply due to the implementation of multimedia and the amount off apps available for it. Browsing the internet on the Ignito can be a chore, but on the iPhone it's a dream (Plus I can't get the blimmin' Ignito connecting to my WiFi at home over WPA2 grrr! )

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
If you do decide to go down the Jailbreak route then there are third party programs to get round the BT/Wifi easy access niggles. The turning off discovery I've not seen a work around for yet.

You can turn wifi off from Settings, do you mean there should be an easier way of doing it? (1 button press, to screen presses and one swipe off)

I reckon that there should be a simple app yes, but then that contradicts the liberal use of WiFi envisaged by Apple. Bought a tip and tricks guide for the 3Gs tonight and there is sooo much hidden under the bonnet. I'm just downloading the iPhone config utility now to see what I can do.

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
I just left Wi-Fi on all the time on mine, the iPhone seems to manage that pretty well...

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Yep my Wifi is on all the time but most of the time it is docked in the cradle at home.
Shame on you Des, it's not that well hidden. Good luck with the config application as it is rather limited.

I had a quick look at the config app when I got the enterprise deployment doc but I'm hanging fire until Apple turn up on the 12th (and O2 get the 3GS back in stock) before I tinker too much.
Just about have another quick play (and then longer research) with the SDK and some other tools I've heard about. I will have to start app programming in earnest shortly so I suppose I'd better soak up some info

It is well hidden in that it's not there! There's too much basic stuff that's available to Jailbroken iPhones like the WiFi and Bluetooh toggles and the ability to show appointment data on the lock screen that isn't available to normal iPhones.

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Surely the Wifi and BT toggles are there at the very least? They're certainly there on my iPod Touch within Settings >> Wifi. The Bluetooth on/off is under Settings >> General

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
I played with an iPhone 3GS today and the wi-fi connected straight to my PC using password protected WPA 2 without a problem, Bluetooth also worked well.
I am sure that wi-fi is in settings> general Des as is bluetooth.
