Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Being honest I can't stand the iPhone's keyboard, I've found that I am definitely a hardware keyboard guy, I guess that stems mainly from the amount of email I do on device...
That's not to say it's just the iPhone, I'm equally as useless with the onscreen keyboards on a WM device, which is one reason I have devices such as the XDA Serra & Palm Treo Pro...
The real issue is that it's become a style war, and WM needs to develop some style at the front end to be able to compete on a level playing field, that's the reality, not for us technoheads, but for the everyday consumer...

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
By the way - this has been another excellent and informative discussion - thanks Davey for starting it!
I think I will always have a WM device of some sort - it is still a hobby to me - but for now the iPhone is my preferred day to day device. I shall look out for WM7 and you never know - MS might just pull the fat out of the fire!
I certainly dont intend to disappear from round here - as long as you'll still have me Daron!

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Interesting - the iPhone keyboard does initially feel odd - its the capacitive screen - it needs only the lightest brush to register - a very different touch to the WM screen. However, once you get used to it, that and the predictive text (which is very accurate) means emailing is very quick indeed.
Style is important - particularly knowdays - who wouldn't rather have a Aston Martin to a Porsche for instance

Good man, and I'm not fussy, either an Aston or a Porsche would do!

Re: Why I despise the iPhone.
Blimey, this has come on since I've been gone. Anyway, too much motorsport and not enough internet this weekend but now I'm back.......

I think the point is the end user doesn't get to fiddle with the settings. The security is set at the Group Policy level and there is no way for the users to get around it. That said I take your point about having it not setup or skirting round it whenever it's inconvenient. I know all about that. That really gets on my ****!
Back to the adverts, I've been taking notice and you're right, there are a lot out there with just blatant lies and then tiny small print caveats. I think they should all be banned. Simple. (but not the Meerkat one, I like that one). I'm surprised they are allowed to get away with it and the fact I've not noticed before must mean a lot of time they do. The thing about the Apple one is that I did notice and it's in my face.
I'm not arguing that the iPhone is easy to use, although personally like Jim said I really didn't like the keyboard. Maybe thumbs is the way to go but with my Zest I only need one hand on the software keyboard, I can't stand using two hands on a device. That's why I always hated the stylus. I don't like the interface either, I've often used the term Fisher Price and I think there's too much colour and too many simple shapes. It looks to me like a childs toy, rather than a high tech gizmo. I agree that the App store is spot on, it'll be interesting to see what MS do with theirs next month (or is it the month after? whatever....). I think overall maybe the iPhone is TOO easy to use. Maybe that's why I despise it?
