How long can I live without the Internet? Hmm, I remember a while back when I had to send in my PC for repairs, and the company I sent it to ended up taking a month to repair something that I could have done myself in less than a day.
The result? I ended up going about a week without it well enough, but then I began to get antsy and I kept thinking about it. Furthermore, I actually went to facilities that allowed me to use Internet, and I stayed there longer than normal just to continue using it. Finally, I just took out my old laptop, and hook it up to my cable modem/keyboard, and I just used that.
So I guess a week is the longest I can go without the Internet. I have to agree with some others, it is amazing how something like this has become so integrated in my life, but it isn't so surprising when you consider that I do just about everything using the Internet. I get my news, do a lot of my shopping, do my banking, research, get entertained, get materials to read, and so on and so on and so on.
Essentially, getting cut off from the Internet is sort of like getting cut off from the world to me.
One day, my cell phone will probably have the same level of integration in my life. I still remember the first time I ever got a cell phone (Motorola V60i) and all I used it for was occasional calls. Today, I have a WinMo smartphone with unlimited texting/data, and I use it to do almost everything my PC does.
