Re: How long could you survive without the internet?

In the begining when I had a 56k modem, i was on the pc surfing maybe once a week. When I got my first broadband connection it was daily and often. Then along came mobile devices with 'unlimited data' plans and that was where I became a slave to the 'internet'.

Now, I seriously cant go 10 mins without checking my phone, whether it be Facebook, Twitter, or googling a query. Back when mobile phones were 'phones' they didnt bother me too much. Ive always had one but if I left it at home it didnt bother me. Now? If I leave home without it, I WILL turn back to get it, I cannt go without it. I even had it in the hospital for the 6 week duration I was in. In the small window of 24hrs where I was asking if I could have phone in with me I was almost tearing my hair out.

Can I go without it? not a blooming chance!

I think most of us are in that same situation these days. I have to be connected everywhere!

Re: How long could you survive without the internet?

I will definitely agree on that point, I can't remember what I actually did before I was connected to the internet!!

Re: How long could you survive without the internet?

I can't do my job if I don't have a connection, I administer remote Medical Software servers. I cannot honestly think of the last time when I was not connected to the Net somehow....
Drives my wife nuts!

Re: How long could you survive without the internet?

My sister in law lives in the middle of nowhere in France. When we go over there there's no connectivity, by design, and it's nice to be unavailable. Lets you step away from it all.

Not sure I could do the cold turkey Dave, I would have to find some way of connecting!

Yep... I'd have to talk to the wife otherwise... And maybe even the kids!
