Re: Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade for FSC N560/C550

Hi Andy,

Thanks again for your help and giving your thoughts!

I've used SpriteBackup first and then tested out two things:

I first tested my navigation software. It worked well. Than I installed this OEM .cab. I didn't notice any differencies with my navigation software.

I first tested my audio software. It worked well. With my headphone switch, too. Than I installed this OEM .cab. Now my sound was away and went away. Even after a hard reset. So I restored my backup and everything was fine again.

I thought the difference could be made by another version of the PCC? I've a N560, not a N520. Just a thought.

Hey Jim,

So have you upgraded yet?

If you're not using it, would you entertain selling it? I have a colleague interested in buying one (having seen how good mine is!)

Regards,

Andy B.

Guys, anybody tell me where to download WM6 for my FSC C550. I tried 4pda.ru site but seems to me that site is down. I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Pruthvi,

I'm not sure on the legality of distributing the WM6 image, so I can't send it to you, or link to it directly. However, if you google enough, you should find it. Try googling for:

N560.C550.WM6.Pups.777_Team.0.0.4.rar rapidshare

and have a look at the hits...

Happy hunting.

Regards,

Andy B.

Re: Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade for FSC N560/C550

Hi, I'm new to the forum.

I've just followed the steps and upgraded my n560 to WM6. All seemed well, except my GPS no longer seems to work. There are no error messages etc, but Tomtom or the GPS locator just never see a single satellite. I took it on an hour long drive and it never got anything, let alone a lock.

I've literally just installed WM6, and some of the OEM cab files, and TTN6. Is there anything else I need to install to get the GPS to work properly?

Any suggestions?

Hi Nafsten and welcome to 4WM

Do you get the "searching for signal message" in TomTom, if so the best piece of advice I can give is to try and get an initial signal lock outside while stationary, trying to get an initial lock while on the move is not the best idea. Go outside and get a clear view to the sky then give it 10-15 minutes and see if it works.

Re: Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade for FSC N560/C550

Hi Nafsten,

Two things to try:

1. Try running the FSC GPS Locator software (it's part of the OEM bundle IIRC, but may be installed in the ROM, I don't remember). If it starts up, then it happily sees the GPS device and you just need to wait for a lock.

If it doesn't see the GPS device, confirm the GPS settings in the Settings->System->External GPS application. I have mine set to:

GPS Program Port = None
Hardware port = COM8
Baud rate = 9600
Manage GPS Automatically

This all works fine.

2. Once you get that working, you can then upgrade the GPS firmware with the file from FSC Support (although it's for WM5, it works fine under WM6). Don't forget to read the README as it contains some important config information!

Other than that, as Boz suggests, try to get a lock outside under clear skies while stationary. When my loox was new and still WM5 (i.e. I hadn't messed it about), it could take > 30 minutes to get a lock if I chose to drive around rather than waiting!

You can, at least, be safe in the knowledge that the GPS *definitely* works under the WM6 ROM you're using - it's just a case of possibly config, but more likely patience!

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Andy B.

Re: Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade for FSC N560/C550

Cheers, all sorted now!

When you mentioned the upgrade on the FSC site, it reminded me of something. I think I'd added/removed a load of stuff from my PDA, including that update, and I knew SOMETHING failed. I ran the update again, and everything is gravy now!

Re: Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade for C550

Hi, I have just been trying to install WM6 onto my C550 using the PocketLOOX5xxFlashTool.exe tool but I keep getting a message saying "The power adapter is not connected to the pocket LOOX". The cable is connected and I am synced through activesync. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
