ActiveSync & Win 6.1 problem

Hi
New member here after googling my problem.
I have a Loox N560 and would like to upgrade to Win 6.1.
The problem is every time I set the Newplow flash tool it goes through various pages and then reports a communication error and can't go any further.
Activesync 4.5 is clearly running I have tried various settings but still no luck.
I have read the sticky on this topic and there is no mention of any problems with activesync only to use 4.5.
Any help appreciated

Hi and thanks for the welcome.
I must be behind the times as I have only just purchased the n560 as it had such good reviews and the price was good also

Re: ActiveSync & Win 6.1 problem

Reading around I suspect you may be better off sticking with WM6.

The only WM6.1 build is the Russian newplow one and the comments suggest it is far from stable, and no updates to the postings after May 2008.

Theres no doubt is is still an excellent device apart from the stingy memory and lack of phone/GSM data capabilities!

Re: ActiveSync & Win 6.1 problem

I have now managed to load WIN 6, Hooray!!!!
Can anyone tell me if I need to install FSC GPS Locator software? when installed the loox can't find any satellites, if I do a hard reset which deletes it the loox finds satellites instantly.
I have also installed the firmware upgrade, not sure if that is deleted with a hard reset.
Thanks

Re: ActiveSync & Win 6.1 problem

Well done

It may be worth reading through This post (Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade for FSC N560/C550) which goes through the process of updating to WM6.

I can't remember how the FSC GPS Locator works, but if you find it is better without it, I'd presume it is unnecessary? If you load a GPS program, can it find your location?

Re: ActiveSync & Win 6.1 problem

Yes Garmin works fine without the gps locator, so as you said I assume I don't require it.
Reading the post you mentioned it says to load the firmware upgrade and gps locater software but it does not seem to work for me.
Now I have win 6 running ok is it worth upgrading to the latest version, what are the advantages?
Thanks
