1.0USB is good with me since it doesnt need great transfer rates to read Xvid/Divx from a harddrive.

Hi,
Just to let you know what I do (more or less), I take a DVD, pop it into my desktop PC and use some software to grab it and shrink it down to ~640x480, DivX, and some other parameters I can't remember.
This results in a movie file that's around 900MB in size (depending on the quality setting).
Transfer this to an SD card on my N560, then use TCPMP to play the video.
Quality is fine, no jerking or tearing of the images, and sound is superb, and I've found that battery life outlasts the movie...
The CPU doesn't struggle at all - indeed, benchmarking with TCPMP, the video can play back at 2xspeed without any problems.
Bear in mind that these boxes run at 625Mhz, which, given the architecture, is far more powerful than desktop PCs were just a few short years ago...
I don't remember what software I've been using to rip the DVD movie, but it was free...
Unfortunately, I'm away on business so I can't check.
Bottom line is that movie playback on a modern PDA (N560) works just great.
www.pockettv.com was one site where I started my investigation into all of this... They have got some very useful resources.
Also check out the various PPC free software sites.
Finally, there is a wealth of benchmarking information out there...

Andy B.
