Re: Media Player Remote Control

I've finally got around to trying Salling Clicker again and it is impressive!

I recommissioned an old laptop (4 yr old Core 2 Dell with 1GB RAM!) using Windows 7 and Media Monkey, reading from my main PC in the study over WiFi (ethernet socket is faulty on laptop!). Installed Salling, downloaded the MediaMonkey script, then downloaded the beta Windows 5/6 mobile client to the HD2, and all worked from the word go.

I can now control my music from anywhere in the house as long as the HiFi is turned on Who needs a Sonus Music Player!

Re: Media Player Remote Control

i recently found an app called sfr 1-2 remote which does the same.

http://www.sfr-software.de/12remoteen/

there is a trial and well worth a go.

you can control itunes or wmp through it on any pc in the house as long as the server software is installed on it. The server software runs in the background on xp, vista or win7 and can be set to run at startup.

Oddly some of the words remain in german on it but not enough to cause a nuisance.

i think this sort of feature should be built in to the mobile wmp and am hoping it may be something we see in wm7

I couldn't get MediaMonkey to run under Windows 7 here, what version are you using Neil?

Re: Media Player Remote Control

I've got V3.2 but 3.1 worked OK as well.

Re: Media Player Remote Control

MediaMonkey works great under Win7. Just use the latest version if you also use the latest iTunes.

It's dedicated to music, has a great set of facilities for playlist and tag editing, updates libraries MUCH better than WMP and maintains dynamic library links better. Works well with WM7 libraries.

And as above- the MediaMonkey extender on Salling Clicker works very well, so I can keep the music PC downstairs with the display off, controlling via the HD2. Of course, you can do that with WMP as well but I find WMP never fully adds new content without rebuilding the library unless I rip a CD from within WMP.

Re: Media Player Remote Control

Whats your setup Neil, music on the main PC downstairs, as it would be with my Home Server (in garage), laptop connectected to stereo to play the music via Media Monkey, and that laptop controlled by Salling Clicker via the HD2?
