inbuilt gps settings
hi all, I have a windows mobile 5 device (w800) which has a built in gps reciever and tomtom navigater 6 installed.
when I run tomtom, at the bottom it says waiting for a valid gps signal but doesn't seem to get one.
in the tomtom setting at show gps status it says no valid gps signal... it is set on .. other NMEA gps reciever???(is this right) and at baud rate 4800 and it gives a list of ports
s2410 com9
s2410 com5
com7
com3
gps device
s2410 com1..
when I press gps device it takes me back to gps status saying no valid gps signal and then the tomtom map screen and says waiting for valid gps signal again and seems to stay like that.
any idea's where i,m going wrong?
I downloaded the satelite update data via my pc.

Re: inbuilt gps settings
It will probably be one of the com ports. On current devices, they seem to go for com4. I would take it outside and just try each of the com ports in turn, giving at least a couple of minutes for each try just to make sure.

Re: inbuilt gps settings
most of the other ports when pressed it comes up no gps device and doesn't say waiting for valid gps signal. the only one it waits for signal is on is when its set at gps reciever.
but i,ll try it out anyway.

Re: inbuilt gps settings
Try Program Port as Com4, Hardware Port as NONE, baud rate 4800, tick in box for manage automatically.
Click OK and do a soft reset.
Try again with setting up TT6 with other NMEA gps as you did, 4800 baud and Com4. Give it a while to get a first fix.
Let us know.....

Have you tried waiting a minute or two after you have selected each option? From memory I think it takes the GPS status screen to update.
