Re: Integrate Windows Update Services (WSUS) into Windows Home Server

It's a pain in the bottom to install, not just a single msi or anything. There were about 4 or 5 parts to it, including SQL of some sort (you can use the cut MS free one though) but it's doable.

Ah that matches my half recalled attempts at loading it ages back, I knew it was not straight forward and in the end I think I gave up as not worth the effort.

It might be worth looking again as WSUS 3 is out now (last month I believe). I've not got around to upgrading to this yet but I've heard it's loads easier.

Not really worth it these days with the BB as said in the thread. I would have been useful a few year ago but not now.

I think you are right Dave but I also think I read it needs a server OS for installation...

Re: Integrate Windows Update Services (WSUS) into Windows Home Server

The old one definitely didn't (v2), but I wouldn't be surprised if the new ones does (v3).

Re: Integrate Windows Update Services (WSUS) into Windows Home Server

FYI
  • WSUS 3.0 Server Software Prerequisites:
    • Windows Server 2003 SP1 or later
    • IIS 6.0 or later
    • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
    • Microsoft Management Console 3.0
    • Microsoft Report Viewer
    • SQL Server 2005 SP1 is optional. Note if a compatible version of SQL Server is not installed already, WSUS 3.0 will install Windows Internal Database.
