No it is not a problem with WM6, I have always been able to use it. Did you try a hard reset as soon as you upgraded? As this can help to boot up drivers and get the rom running as it should.

Just to confirm that it's the 11 digit number that starts with HT*********? Or am I supposed to drop the HT prefix?

Many thanks in advance

If you are having trouble, I have uploaded a link to that exact rom (O2 XDA Orbit (Artemis etc) WM6 rom upgrade available here)HERE just for people having your type of problem. Still follow the guide and you should be fine.

Thanks for the nice document. I am facing a typical problem in updating the ROM to 6. I did as per your instructions, but while actually starting the installation process, the mobile is getting disconnected from the PC, I mean the ActiveSync is getting disconnected automatically and then it end up with a red/green screen on the mobile.

I tried this many time, but everytime I faced the same problem.

Can you please help in this.

Thanks
Deepak
I found that I got comunication errors until I did a hard reset of the device. Then as the update program runs it changed to a red/green/blue screen and dropped, but then found the USB connection again and went on from there with no problems.

Frustrating and tedious, but ultimately worked!

Re: 4WM XDA Orbit WM6 ROM Upgrade FAQ now available

Boz, thanks for the response. However, I managed to get the download to work from the official site in the end. Before I was trying to download it using Firefox as my web browser, and it wouldn't recognise my serial number, but when I fired up Internet Explorer it worked first time! I'd recommend trying to switch browsers if you're serial number isn't being accepted.

Much respect to Tonybro for the how2 thread also.

My first impressions of WM6 are good, it seems much more fluid and polished than it's predecessor. I've only been living with it for a couple of days, and I've only found one flaw, which is nothing major.

Using WM5 I could tap the G at the top of the screen and it would give me the option to turn my wifi on or off, however with WM6 it only seems to give the option of turning it on, once it's on I have to go into connections manager to turn it off. Apart from that minor flaw, everything else seems good!

Cheers guys

Re: 4WM XDA Orbit WM6 ROM Upgrade FAQ now available

Glad to see you got it sorted, the fault with the wi-fi you mention is common to most WM6 roms, it is well known even during the beta testing, yet Microsoft must just sit and stare at it because they have done nothing about it!
