Re: Activesync keeps starting up in WM6

neilm -

Thanks for the clarification on the ROM/battery issue.

Regarding ActiveSync -- I guess I'll just surrender and let it auto-start all the time, but I really don't need it except for about one minute a day when I sync my files with my laptop. Otherwise, I don't use it for any connectivity purposes (for example, while it is terminated, I can connect to networks via WiFi, I can surf the web via my cellular network, etc.). I read somewhere that it's needed for push email, but I don't use it for that either. So I've been terminating it each time it auto-starts after I start the phone (I'm just talking on the phone and don't need to synchronize anything so I don't need it running). However, having researched this extensively, it looks like I just have to "let it be" -- otherwise, I'll be forever terminating it. Thanks for your comments.

Re: Activesync keeps starting up in WM6

You're welcome We've all been through the process of wondering how much impact A/S has hen running, and the simple answer is, pretty much none

Since WM5/AS4 , when the default connectivity of devices changed from USB to RNDIS (network protocol) the OS insists on checking that AS is running, and if not, will start it.

With most taskbar switchers you can usually hide tasks that you don't want to see.... I used to do this with Magic Button & Activesync.

Re: Activesync keeps starting up in WM6

hey guys, sorry for the late reply, been busy

but flashing to a new rom did fix activesync from restarting
the downside is that now my battery life seems worse than before so i guess i was better off with activesync restarting

i recommend flashing your rom to a custom one that most people are using now, as those usually wont have activesync restart enabled, my activesync does not auto-start anymore, unless it has just been hidden or something, but i'm pretty sure its gone now

Re: Activesync keeps starting up in WM6

I think it's more likely that the Active Sync suppress bring employed is the cause of the battery problem.

Sorry to bang on about this, but I still can't see what the problem is with it being loaded in the background. If you use something that regularly kills the process, AS will simply try to restart every 5 minutes, eventually draining the battery .

Re: Activesync keeps starting up in WM6

Hi. I have the same problem on my TY TNII, that infamouscamera had. It only affects me when I'm in the car. I have a Parrot PM5800 connected via bluetooth to the phone and tomtom going at the same time playing music playing from the phone. At times all recognisable sound stops, always in between tracks funnily enough and then get an alien type mushy sound (something Seti would interested in if they heard it!). I've narrowed it down to activesync kicking in. The only way to get things going again is to turn off activesync and restart audioplayer and tomtom...something that should not really be attempted at 50 mph!! and this cures it until next time

Noting your reply to infamouscamera I checked QuickGPS and it was set to automatically update when the data expires so I have turned it to remind me when data expires and will see if all's ok next time I'm in the car.

Re: Activesync keeps starting up in WM6

Scratch what i've said before. I don't think it's only activesync i think theres another background process causing this or the bluetooth radio is not 'man enough' on the tytnII. I've been using a cigarette lighter converter in the house to test and I'm still getting the mush sound, which is the music and activesync hasn't been running..so not sure where this problem lies. I also find if you handle the phone whilst bluetooth connected to the PM5800 you get drop outs in the sound played over a radio, until you put the phone down. If anyone's hears of a cure I would be grateful to hear it.

Sorry not been any further help on this.

Re: Activesync keeps starting up in WM6

I can't help but to reply on this problem and I have to register just to share what I learned. I was having the same problem just today with my tytn II, I read on an another forum that you have to disable the auto change timezone located at phone settings.

When activesync is on my task bar i noticed that the time is getting late by ten minutes.

I just tried it this minute and hope it'll help us.
