Artemis WON'T CONNECT under vista

Please can anyone has any idea WHY my artemis won't connect anymore under vista/wmdc? I have unistalled and reinstalled wmdc and i have the same message: "unidentified device...failed to installed drivers....please contact the vendor..."
I've managed to reinstall the original rom under the bootloader. But I want to connect my artemis, so i can reinstall the cube version + tomtom.
Anyone has a sugestion why can't i connect them together? Artemis-vista?
Thanks for your suggestions.

Re: Artemis WON'T CONNECT under vista

There certainly seems to be a black art in getting some devices to connect to WMDC.

First I'd suggest opening Sync Center and deleting any existing partnerships. Then try reconnecting. If that fails, then the next trick is to try a different USB port- sometimes this succeeds in loading the drivers to the new port (use a direct USB port, not a hub)

If that fails, then on the device, go to Settings/Connections/USB to PC and UNTICK the box, to force a generic USB connection rather than the Microsoft Networking one it uses by default.

Should that still fail, then we may need to take steps to remove the USB ports on the PC and then re-enable them, but that is quite a faff to do!

Re: Artemis WON'T CONNECT under vista

thanks a lot.I have tried everything. Unticking the box on the artemis and conecting it as generic usb works. Ish. the computer sees it as pda phone, under properties is htc manufacturer, but that's as far as it goes. Wmdc does not see a thing, under explorer there is no device, volume or folder to work with. So i still cannot install anything on it. Crappy situation, i cannot see an issue here. Thanks anyway for the tips, i even unistalled all the usb hubs and reistalled them. No luck

Re: Artemis WON'T CONNECT under vista

If you have SP1 on Vista it should ensure you have the latest version of WMDC is all. Has it ever connected under Vista?

Have you tried a different USB cable and port? Directly connected to the PC and not through a hub?

Re: Artemis WON'T CONNECT under vista

I have downloaded the latest version of wmdc, tried 3 cables, all usb ports on the motherboard. The only bad thing that I can see is that i've tried to connect before installing wmdc. I think maybie it installed some incompatible drivers that I can't get rid of

Re: Artemis WON'T CONNECT under vista

When you connect the device, if you go into device manager on the PC does the hardware show up?
