Re: Anyone got the new HTC Diamond yet?
Oooo. Did anybody see that article about.. or has anybody experienced the new version of RDS, that supposed to come with the Diamond.. Whereby one can map a drive from a remote PC to the file system within the Diamond.... I mean that's mental....if you can...
Somebody mentioned it's a new feature of wm6.1... rather than Diamond specific, but I've not seen it discussed anywhere..
Now that would be a Diamond feature worth extracting...
500 quid for a diamond... Cripes that can stay in the shops for a while. That's the price of a decent laptop, now!

Re: Anyone got the new HTC Diamond yet?
Yes, it's a feature of the new 6.1 remote desktop client. It's not HTC Diamond specific. It should be on all WM devices from now on.

Re: Anyone got the new HTC Diamond yet?
Ahhh cheers.... I suppose that begs the question has anybody managed to extract it.. I've seen mention of a .cab file for the Treo, knocking about but as for trying it on a wm6.0 Orbit II. Well let's put it this way, I wouldn't want to be the first.....!
This thing will have to do me for a while, but I've got my eyes peels for the TouchPro.. sd slot n all that. I'm gone......

"Whereby one can map a drive from a remote PC to the file system within the Diamond.... "
well...euh... didn't try it out yet, but my Asus A730W had/has access to my NAS, so selecting mp3's out of a bunch of 40.000 over WLAN/LAN belongs to the possibilities.
As for the lagging: on foot TT keeps track of course. In the train home it tried to lock on the street (with success) next to the tracks... and when distance became too big, it gave the real measured position in stead of its estimate of me being on the road (Dooohhh....).
One problem though: I was listening the FM radio while testing TT6, and then the phone rang. Good advice: don't panic and pull the earplugs... or the other end will hear music, TT's voice, you swearing and on top of that the radio loses connection... and yes: lagging hits you too! )
Battery status: on now for 26 hours, Wifi on all the time, BT off. 1h30 radio, 1h GPS, 30 minutes games, 30 minutes Barbie and cars on youtube with the kids, some calls (5 or so), 10 SMS'es, weather updating, a few pictures, alarm in the morning, checking dates. 3 bars left and going.

I think I've seen it in cooked ROMs, but there's bound to be a WM6.1 for the Orbit2 in the not too distant future. Probably best to wait for the official stuff.

Re: Anyone got the new HTC Diamond yet?
My Issue with TT laggin s is now resolved. Perhaps the update of ROM from 1.35 to 1.37 fixed it...

Re: Anyone got the new HTC Diamond yet?
It could well have done, there were reports that the original rom was sluggish all round.

Agreed.
I found the supplied ROM to be sluggish during certain tasks (even with the tweaks) So I tried Elite 1.0 rom which worked better, but the start menu would delay loading all quick launches - except the today one
The latest ROM 1.37 seems better all round even the Opera is better. I hope I dont have to update again for a while now hew:

Re: Anyone got the new HTC Diamond yet?

i have one. very impressive. it needed a few reg tweaks i found over at xda-devs to speed it up a little bit make it more smooth that kind of thing. battery life is alittle on the poor side but its something i can deal with to have the latest and greatest from htc.
i sell these things for a living and the area i work in sydney is full of ppl that need to have the greatest business accessory.
very nice.
