What is your signal like? I've seen battery usage like this from devices right on the edge of a 3G signal, the same with the heat issue on the battery. Can you put it into GSM only mode and see if this improves the battery much?

Neil,

Thank you for the information, shows that there is something wrong with my phone.

Waveydavey, thanks for the suggestion, I have now put it into GSM only mode.

There do seem to be issues with some Diamond phones- there are posts on another forum from someone with a Vodafone model with pretty much the same problem- his goes from fully charged to zero in about 6 hours with light use. I don't know the status of his signal though.

Re: Anyone got the new HTC Diamond yet?

Neil,

Thank you for that information. My battery life was no better with GSM only, so I took it back and exchanged it for another one today, hopefully this will work better.

I am pleased you managed to get a replacement device, I saw no other option to be honest, please let us know how you get on with the replacement.

Re: Anyone got the new HTC Diamond yet?

Definitely getting longer battery life with the new phone. One thing I have noticed with both phones is that it will not fully charge from a USB lead to PC. even if left overnight, but will fully charge quickly from the mains charger. Is this normal?

Re: Anyone got the new HTC Diamond yet?

Hi MikeL, in my experience charging from USB takes a lot longer than the mains charger. This is because your USB port is rated at 500ma? I'm not exactly sure on the figures but if incorrect someone will jump in...
