Re: T-mobile compact 4 now available

I've been thinking about flashing that one.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with it.

Re: T-mobile compact 4 now available

How are you coping without the hardware keyboard, are you a convert like a few of us yet?

You know it shows how hectic things are at the moment that I don't actually know if we've had one of these in yet. I'm using the Samsung i780 on trial (not without its issues so far) from T-Mobile at the moment but that's only because I slagged them for retiring the MDA Mail

How you finding the i780? I quite liked the 70's calculator from Sammy that I had.

I've still not got the hang of typing to quickly on it but that's because i'm used to using the key layout on the dual.

I'm getting more used to it though.

Still a sucker for a slide out keyboard for emails etc

Re: T-mobile compact 4 now available

The dual is a nice device. I've been using it on and off and have been pretty impressed.

Sorry for not getting back as i have been away on holiday.

on this rom, I can confirm touchflo runs a lot faster (due to the animations being turned off), but the following problem have been observed...

Email access to an exchange server does not work. Dont know why, it all looks fine, connection messages are appearing but it doesnt appear to work.

The automatic config of settings to most web based email providers (gmail etc) does not work.

The GPS does not work at all. satellites have not been found. I have used quick GPS to update them but still nothing.

The phone has a habit of cutting off calls as you press the answer button and you then have to call back the caller. This has been a problem for most PDA's ive had.

The ring volume is very low.

This one is really annoying... If you set an alarm or reminder it doesnt appear onscreen. The audio alert can be heard but you have to click on the top of the screen and select the alarm symbol to snooze or cancel it.

Another issue i've had which i have also experinced on the vario and vario 3 is if you set alerts to also vibrate too, the vibrate does not turn off until you switch the sound and back on again.

Now i am back from hols i can check the forums for fixes.
If i find anything out i will let you know.

As for the onscreen keyboard, i have large fingers and find the keyboard t be very inacurate at times.

Re: T-mobile compact 4 now available

Have fixed a few things.
The GPS works after doing a hard reset.
The exchange emails now work too, as does the auto config of web based emails.. A Proxy was enabled on the connection settings. disabling cured this.

All working fine on T-mobile now.
