Orange HTC Touch Diamond ROM

Hi there,

This is more to clear up descrepancies which I've found when looking into the Diamond on Orange.

I will be getting my Diamond from Orange in late August. Will it:

a) have one of the ROMs which makes the Diamond runs fast(er) than slow ones I've heard of and seen on Youtube (one where a user shows the phone taking seconds to wakeup rather than instant - my current Touch Cruise is instant

b) will it have orange branding? If so in what form (software wise)? Will it have the orange logo only on the back of the phone?

The short answer is that no-one knows yet!

Orange have a new batch of Diamonds ready to ship; their 1st batch was basically HTC standard, with the addition of the Orange SIMlock and a small Orange logo on the back panel.

The user manual definitely shows T3D with Orange customisations so we have ot assume that at some point this will be the standard.

The version released 2 weeks ago has the latest ROM version (1.37) and is much faster than the reports have shown on early 1.35 devices. There have been a plethora of cooked ROMs as well, but they are no faster than the Orange one overall.

T3D/Manilla certainly has a few memory problems at present- it can be very fast, or very slow for no particular reason. It is a big program- 17MB, so could be having issues with memory paging.

I got my Diamond recently, my ROM version is 1.37.405.1 WWE. I think that it is very slow, so can't imagine what a slower one is like!

The instructions do show it with Orange branding on the software, which is slightly different from the software on the phone. A few months ago someone in the Orange shop told me that Orange had stopped putting their own software on HTC phones, this delayed them getting them onto the market, and had created software problems... doesn't mean they won't do it in the future!

True, Orange stopped branding HTC devices to SPV last year. Thank you Orange...

i don't have an orange branded Diamond but a friend does. Since I flashed a ROM and Radio to his handset - he is happier with it and has decided to not to back it.
