Unhappy ActiveSync with Exchange

Guys not sure if my problem is isolated to BLACK Rom's or of more general nature, so please be patient with me.

I am experiencing issues when trying to Sync my device over the mobile phone network, on Telstra Next G.

Below is an outline of what I am experiencing:-
  • Phone will SYNC (push email) fine all day NO ISSUES as long as my exchange account is being accessed either directly via my laptop or via outlook webmail.
  • Sometimes (NOT ALWAYS) shortly after logging out of either of these accounts my DEVICE stops updating -But NO ERRORS in the logging on the device!
  • Via the COMM MANAGER I attempt to force the SYNC it states "Looking For Changes" finds the changes begins to update as per normal, downloads emails then attachments etc . . . However these updates never show in the INBOX?
  • The phone continues to try and SYNC over and over and over again with the same number of downloads, attachments etc each time it attempts . . . until the battery is discharged.
  • Sometimes it will eventually work, but most of the time NO SUCCESS.
  • As soon as I connect my LAPTOP or log onto OUTLOOK via WEBMAIL my device starts to SYNC again!
This is driving me crazy; I can't put my finger on what might be causing it, as it works fine for days on end then stops for no apparent reason and with no change on either the device or our exchange server?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Baza

Re: ActiveSync with Exchange

Is this with your own exchange server? I only ask as some of the free push email services use your pc's outlook as the mail pusher.

If you have a normal exchange server account (either your own or hosted) then the pc's connection shouldn't impact on device syncing.

Unhappy Re: ActiveSync with Exchange

YES it is our own server hosted on site, I should have been more specific.

You are quite correct I believe it should not be affected by me connecting via other methods, I have tested to the best of my abilities and I can make it work by connecting directly to my exchnage account or via the webmail option!

Back to the drawing board!

Thanks anyway.

Re: ActiveSync with Exchange

Are you connecting your device through the PC over USB for the Sync when the push is working or wirelessly over GPRS/3G?

Re: ActiveSync with Exchange

Do you have much third party software installed? I'd be tempted to try a hard reset and do a fresh set up the partnership device and server. You're not trying to sync with any desktop stuff seperately are you? POP3 mailboxes or anything?

Yep, I'd definitely try a hard reset.

Re: ActiveSync with Exchange

Yep. The upgrade process will have the same effect as performing a hard reset, and so should do the trick. It might be worthwhile disassociating the device from the exchange server before you upgrade, so as to clear both sides of the issue.
