Car mount for HTC in case you are looking

I ordered this car mount last week and have been using it for a few days now. I got tired of having my phone in a cup holder or on the seat next to me. And with the near future purchase of a GPS Puck, I needed something to keep it upfront, eye level, charged and backlight always lit.

This works very well and is inexpensive ($29.00 to my door) Below is a product shot and I will get some actual shots in use. The ebay sellers info is below as well in the event anyone is looking for it.

The only thing I dont like is having the car charger cord stretching down from the unit to the cig lighter. I am going to mod a 12 volt input jack in my dash for and a shorter power lead to neaten it up.

Hi Mike, what's the stability like with the arm?

I am a Brodit vent mount man myself. I would live in fear of the sucker coming unstuck from the windscreen if I had that type of mount!

That was my only concern in that the arm would flex to much, but it is really stiff. Some effort has to be put into it to change positions. I had one of the pinch mounts one time that vibrated so much, I thought it was going to sling my phone out. I was suprised at how solid this one was for ~30 bucks.

The suction is lever actuated. I dont forsee it coming off as even when the lever is released, the suction cup has to be forced to break contact. I know a lot of people like the vent mounts though.

That's good news. Certainly beats the old rigid one I had in my car prior to getting the fixed Brodit mount.

Re: Car mount for HTC in case you are looking

Things must have improved a lot since I used an Axim x5 with TomTom and a suction mount. If I hit a bump in the road whilst driving I would end up trying to catch it before it ended up under my feet and pedals!

Re: Car mount for HTC in case you are looking

I know exactly what you mean. The last glass mount I had was the exact same scenario. That is what concerned me about buying this one, but was pleasantly suprised. Now I would imagine it would depend on the ride too. A really rough ride would almost definately translate to the mount. Luckily my tires on in balance I guess

Now to work on moding the mount to hardwire it in, instead of having that awful cord traveling down to the lighter

Aye, that is a downside. Brodit do a Molex connector mount so that you can wire it directly to the cars loom, but I've always stuck with the cigarette lighter variants as I change my phones too often....

Now that is weird... I have this item on watch at ebay... almost bought it today, but had some reservations about the mounting... Glad to see your mini-review... I may just pull the trigger tomorrow... Thnxs...
