Hello Folks,
My first post!
I have a Vodafone V1605 which is unlocked.
In the year that I have had it, I have been close to ejecting it from my car due to problems with making calls via my hands-free unit. Having found this website, I am most interested to know if the installation of this ROM will be the answer to my prayers!
Is there an idiots guide to downloading all of the software I need, and how to go about this?

Hi Roy and welcome to 4WM 
There is a complete guide to updating your rom and radio upgrading here, if you suffer from a poor signal it will be your radio rom that is causing the problem and a newer version will help the reception.
Basically before you can upgrade to anything you must install at least Olipro Hard SPL 2.10 this stops your device becoming a brick if things go wrong. Have a read of the guide all is explained there, if you have any questions or need any help just ask and we will be pleased to help.

Thanks for the response.
I am now the proud owner of a WM6 machine! Haven't tested the hands-free functionality yet, but the upgrade went well - once I realised I was pressing the wrong 'OK' button!

Yes the radio is included, how are you finding the signal now? I ask because there are newer versions available that may give you even better reception.

I haven't noticed a difference to be honest. What is the difference in radio versions, and how can they differ in signal strength? Are different ones used for different service providers?
Also: I noticed different ROMS are available. How do these differ - is there an overview of each one?

In general the higher the radio version number the better the signal, but if you are happy with your version stay as you are. Most of the standard carrier roms are very similar it is the cooked roms that contain the most customisation, you need to check out the spec of each one you come across.

I think I will try another as this one does cut out sometimes in the car. One other question: I lost my Vodofone 3G settings when I flashed the ROM. Can anyone say what these are so that I can get my email on the move again?
