I have the iMate Jasjam, with original (WM5) ROM, and it's buggy(hanging, slow, mis-alligned). I was hoping the WM6 would solve many of the problems I have.
I assume flashing it with this WM6 means losing all settings and SMS-messages etc.
Any suggestion on how to backup/restore these?

Hi phorstink and welcome to 4WM 
I had to edit your post because we do not allow inappropriate language on this family orientated site.
Regarding your issues it might be that the screen alignment issue points to something more than just the need to upgrade your rom, but it is worth a try and see if it helps. First off you will need to install Olipro Hard SPL 2.10 which will act as insurance against bricking your device, plus it will need to be CID unlocked too and this will allow you to flash the rom of your choice. More details can be found here.
Installing a fresh rom will delete all saved info and installed applications, but you can back up your messages etc with a great free application available from here. Hope that helps.

Sorry for the language Boz...
Anyway, have been trying to install the HARDSpl (currently spl1.06) but it's failing every time with Error [262] at 0% (at least the phone recovers without a problem from that  ).
I'm using Activesync 4.5, rebooted the PC, reset the device, set the device in bootloader manually, nothing...
Any suggestions?

You could try installing an iMate WM6 rom on your device you should not need to install hard SPL that way, if successful then try hard SPL again.
It can be problematic installing Hard SPL I take it you are running XP and using activesync 4.5. Try removing your memory card from your device, turn off the firewall and try again. It might be worth putting the device into bootloader mode then connect to your PC (do not worry about connecting to activesync) and then run it, but try a few times as it could take a few goes to work.

Hey Boz,
thanks for your reply. Couldn't install the WM6 directly, complained about wrong vendor-ID. So kept on trying to install HardSPL. After several trial it accidentely worked (don't ask me what I did exactly, am just glad it did), after that WM6 installed flawlessly.
Even got most my setting, messages and logs back thanks to the PPC Pimbackup you recommended.
Now I'll have to see if the device start behaving better then before, otherwise I'll have to go and buy a Nokia  or something...
Anyway, thanks for your help!
