Re: Black ROM replacement...

I would (have) liked to cook based on Black Satin, but the lack of rgus was too much for me.
I did email JJ and ask for them as he said elsewhere that he had no problem releasing them, but then we all know that events overtook him and he never got a chance to reply.

The Pandora 3.57 is good enough for me however.

Well, usually I flash mid day or late evening... What I have found that works best for me is to use an application like PimPPCBackup 2.5... That app stores all of my email accounts, calendar, sms/mms messages and other folders that I specify to backup/restore.... It also has a handy schedule function that allows the automated backup to run while I sleep... Contacts are backed up this way as well, but I usually just sync with exchange and contacts/calendar and exchange mail is restored... I usually don't restore any pop mail, I just let it download them all over again... Since I only store 3 days worth of email per account, it doesn't take that long to have all my email back on my device...

As for other apps, I keep the cabs on the storage card and try to back the card up weekly (just in case) and just install them one by one... My unit is not lean by any standards, but most of the apps I use do not require a lot of customization.... So, I can be back up and useful within 20 mins on the long side...

Re: Black ROM replacement...

I've been following this thread too as I have the flashing bug (ok it was only the radio, but it was damn fun). And yep I've scrawled through the roms to see what would suit me, and tbh the one I have covers everything. I dont use, nor need, windows live and I would like to see improvement in the camera, but I dunno if rom flashing will improve this, as my cam sux!!

There's a big list of roms, and what they do, on the uber friendly xda-developers. One guy (who makes the roms) queried MMS, asking who uses it? ME!! or I used to til I realised how bad the camera was on my M3100.

Does anyone know how to improve this?

Sorry for going slightly off topic

Question Re: Black ROM replacement...

I'm back after a play of a couple of ROMS. I am using Shamix Grass at the moment as it seemed more snappy and didn't have the FtouchFlo built in already like many of the other Roms, which stops me from installing that great HTC CUBE I like. It also does not have that extra cluter of on screen shortcuts to the Camera, pictures, videos, etc, etc, etc.... would rather choose my own. I have found that after a bit of GPRS 3G internet surfing the rest of the rom goes buggy and needs a SR. I think it will be back to BlackX 2 or RC for me, and install the apps that I need.

MY DREAM LIST:
All I want in a ROM now is Blacks stability and color(purple, been there done that), with the 6Tab HTC Home(current 409Weather list & other data base option) with Customizer, HTC Cube with FtouchFlo, Xbutton & Minimizer, Working Video call, Working Remote Desktop.

OPTIONAL in ROM
Quick Menu, streaming, wifi Access Point (4 laptop), Latest Contact Manager!!
Like the Black theam to, but not a must.

A purple Rom had all of this if I remember right, but had that extra cluter on screen, shortcuts to the Camera, pictures, videos, etc, etc, etc.... I don't want, but would have lived with if it wasn't SOOO slow and felt buggy. Phone didn't work right half the time, but it was a rom I tried over a month ago now as well. That may be fixed.

If no one has any sugestions, I will have to go back to Black and go through the PAINFULL dance of installing ALL of these apps in just the right way to make it all work right again. Takes a serious amount of time, and if I have to do a sprite restore, it will usually restore with lossing the windows messenger funtion, as well as my internet 3G ability and will not let me enter it again! BIG pain in the BUTT, as I have to always start over from scratch.

To save this pain, if anyone knows or is running a GOOD Herms ROM that has EVEN some of these basics cooked in, let me know please.

Enough of a rant for now LOL.

GB.. Glad to see you back and actively posting... I am currently running CRC's v12r9 WM6.1 rom and I feel like a noob all over again... So far is is solid and stable and also is UC compliant... So my primary apps are installed after a hard reset... that really makes flashing even more fun... Anyway, I would drop u a couple of links, but I am enjoying the use of the mobile forum right now and am on the ever so speedy local train to work...

Re: Black ROM replacement...

well I've just flashed back to Satin Lite. It's super fast and rock solid. I like the old old style non video phone app as well.
Using the little app, C launcher and S2U2 and a few other well chosen apps my phone is everything I need.

cheers,

Deb.

Hi'ya Deb. How are you doing?
Have you finaly found your new BLack rom replacement yet in 6.1?
Wow hase CRC's v12r9 WM6.1 rom been treating you and your apps, and is it still a stable fast rom like the Black is?

I am still back on the X-RC II rom, as I find it SOOO stable with all that I do or try. The only thing that bugs me a bit is the MMS does not seem to work for me on the Black X roms, and everytime I turn on the cell in Comm mang. Active STINK ALWAYS turns on (wish I could stop it) at the same time slowing it down for that moment.

I have lived with those bugs quite easily, as since never being able to use or try MMS, I realy don't know what I am missing, if anything.

Is there a 6.1 rom that is out there yet that is worthy of being equal to the quality of the Black? Or are you still suffering from RFS still deb?

Anyway, it will be good to hear from you again and see how you have been making out, and what things you have been up to to keep you busy.
