Yes in a nutshell you have it right on changing your rom, you just need to wait for your unlock code and you will be free to do this. It is worth remembering though that if you have a problem with your device then you will need to put the device back to standard for repairs under warranty, so make sure you have a copy of an Orange Kaiser rom first before doing anything.

I can imagine what Orange have done to the rom, but you can easily load new themes and customise it in the meantime.

Anyway, after a lot of slow communication between Orange and HTC, they finally issued me with my unlock code so naturally, i tried the ROM. Problem....... at 1% of process i got this message ---> ERROR 294 - INVALID VENDER ID... suggestions folks???

Hi Steve no worries mate.

This is the meaning of the error code:-

ERROR [242] : INVALID LANGUAGE
ERROR [244] : INVALID MODEL ID
ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDER ID
ERROR [296] : UPGRADE ONLY

One of these error messages will appear when you use the wrong RUU to do the upgrade. RUU will check if the Model ID and Language ID are compatible with the device. Make sure you use the appropriate RUU tool to upgrade.

Have you installed Hard SPL before trying to run the upgrade?

Hi I'm kind of a noob at this. I noticed the radio version of this ends in .11. will this enable the gps on the 8525 hemes. Can I flash this with Olipro 2.10 installed?

Sorry but anything related to the Kaiser radio and rom wise cannot be used on the Hermes or fatal damage could be caused. The Hermes has no built in GPS and you have to use a separate GPS receiver, hope this helps.

I am a complete newbee at this, so sorry for my brainless questions, I have a Orange TYTNII which I have unlocked to use with my Vodafone Contract sim, I can't get any of the Internet /emails to work and have been reading about replacing the firmware to original HTC version, please if some one could spare the time, could they let me have a simple step by step guide of what, and where i need to go to get the write Rom? I have seen on the XDA developer site a program that cooks the orange rom, but does that automatically put the original HTC version back on?

I await all and any help you can give

Nice to have you here, and don't worry about any questions you may have, feel free. Onto you question, rather than change your rom would it be easier to get the right settings for your phone to work correctly with the Vodafone sim?

Putting a new rom on is not something to jump into lightly especially if your phone is under warranty and needs to be sent back under repair with the wrong rom on it!

The Vodafone settings can be installed with a simple cab file below depending if you want to use payg or contract, assuming you are in the UK.

You've got it! Connect to activesync drag and drop the cab file to your device and tap on it to run within your device.
